TSF is the largest English speaking Snooker community online today, so you made the right choice in coming to us.

As a TSF member you should read the rules and guidelines below to get yourself better acquainted with how things work around here. The rules listed in this FAQ apply to all of TSF’s forums.

THESE RULES MAY BE MODIFIED OR UPDATED AT ANYTIME WITHOUT NOTIFICATION SO IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ALL MEMBERS TO CHECK THIS THREAD PERIODICALLY FOR CHANGES.

Forum Conduct
  • Do not flame other members. Flaming is behaving in an abusive and/or hateful manner. You are not to harass, threaten, nor attack anyone. We like to keep it friendly here!
    TSF defines harassment as follows:
    1. To irritate or torment persistently.
    2. To verbally provoke another member for the purpose of eliciting an emotional response.
    Members who violate this policy will be warned. Further offenses will result in a permanent ban.
  • Do not use profanity and do not post indecent or offensive images. You will neither post with language or content that is obscene, sexually-oriented, or sexually suggestive, nor link to sites that contain such content. TSF is a G-rated forum - this means don't post anything you wouldn't want your granny or little brother/sister seeing! Words that have been placed on the automatic censure list are there because this is a G-rated site. As such, members will not make an effort to circumvent this system by replacing select characters or by any other means.
  • Do not post multiple threads on the same topic. This is known as ‘flooding’. Please post only once in the most appropriate forum for your question. A full list of all forums can be found by clicking on the YELLOW forum link in the top TSF menu. Multiple threads on the same topic will be merged, closed or deleted.
  • Do not spam the forums. Spam is promoting your product or service where its not wanted, a bit like junk mail. Spamming may result in being banned from the site. See below for the kinds of content that TSF considers to be spam.
  • You will respect other people's right to personal privacy and will not post any other person's identifying information (including their names, contact information, and any other relevant information) within the forums.
  • You will not post any material that is knowingly; false, misleading, or inaccurate.
  • Do not post about Warez, Serials, Hacking, Virus Creation, P2P, file sharing, copyrighted material hosting, drugs, underage drinking or anything else illegal. This includes referral games such as Clan/warfare games as well as free mac/ipod schemes! Members who engage in these types of activities will be banned instantly, forever.
  • Do not reply to your own posts, All that you need to say should be put into one reply, if you feel the need to add to a post you have made then please use the edit feature.
  • Edit feature abuse, The edit feature is there for you to adjust the spelling or factual information of a post and in some cases to update member participation in a competition in the starting post of a thread, you should not use the edit feature to:

    • Delete your posts from the forum.
    • Edit your post in such away that you make the replying posts irrelevant or misconstrued what they were originally replying to.
      NOTE: excessive use of the edit feature will not be tolerated as this generates alot of additional work for the boards moderators.



  • If posting news or something about a "funny email/joke" you just got, please run a quick search as another member may have already posted it before you.

Spam Ingredients:
Although spam is a term that originally referred to unwanted bulk solicitations in email, TSF has expanded this term so as to also include various other types of undesirable content. Simply put, if the only purpose of your post is to promote your product or service…that is considered spam.

You will not post advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or solicitations, all of which are inappropriate and prohibited in the Forums. Furthermore, you will not collect personal information about forum members with the intent of sending them any such advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, solicitations through other means (email, messaging programs, etc.), or for any other purpose.

Footers, Avatars, Attachments & Albums

Footer Rules
Footers are a digital signature attached to the bottom of every post you make. To make changes, simply go to your My Panel then click 'Edit Profile' and adjust your footer text and image there in the signature box. You can also chose to not have a signature if you like.

This box makes use of vB code, which is a very basic scripting language that allows you to show images or change text safely on TSF. Do not use the following vB commands in your footer: QUOTE CODE PHP LIST (as they add extra breaks and make your footer too large)

Footers have a fixed dimension, file size and text rules that are outlined below. Do not break these or your footer will be removed.

Footer Specs:
  • Maximum File Size: 15kb
  • Maximum dimensions: 300x40 pixels
  • Image type: .JPG, .GIF or .PNG ONLY!
  • Number of images: ONE image is preferred, but if you must have multiple images they must all total no more than 300x40 pixels!
  • In addition to an image you may also have 3 lines of text. If you don't want to use an image, then you are allowed up to 5 lines of text in your footer.
  • No fonts larger than 7pt.
  • Do not use quote, code, php or list tags in your footer.

Footer/Signature Rules and limitations
  • Do not link to any illegal, adult related or otherwise inappropriate content. TSF is a "G" Rated Forum. All ages are admitted.
  • No SPAM. Do not use your footer/signature to advertise that which you wish to sell, donate or otherwise relinquish.
  • If you are unsure about what content can be placed in your footer then contact the administrator for clarification before you post your footer.

All footers/signatures will be allowed at the discretion of the TSF Team and may be removed or modified at any time and without notice.

You can be banned from TSF for any inappropriate content in your footer/signature.

Do not start a new thread for the sole purpose of testing your new footer! There is a preview button directly below the box that allows you to edit your signature in the User CP (Control Panel).

Avatars and Titles
An avatar is the little image under your name. Just like footers, they have size and weight rules.

  • Maximum File Size: 15kb
  • Maximum dimensions: 100x100 pixels

You can only change your title (line of text under your username) once you have made 1,000 posts or have a paid subscription.

Attachments
You have a total space of 3meg for attachments this space can be increased to 5
meg if you have over 1,000 posts or 15 to 25meg if you have a paid subscription.

Albums
You can have 50 images in your albums with a total size of 600px by 600px and total size per image of 500,000 bytes


Image content and text posted on TSF
By posting images and text on TSF you are granting thesnookerforum.co.uk and affiliated websites a license to reuse this content unconditionally. Content posted in image or text form still remains your intellectual property but thesnookerforum.co.uk and affiliated website also have the right to reuse this content where we see fit without licence, if you do not want your images or text to be reused in any way by TSF or our affiliates then we suggest you do not post it on the public forums.


Removal of images or text posted by members will only be removed it the content of the images or text break the forum rules or infringe on a persons civil rights.

Banning, Suspension & Moderated members
All of the rules are there for a reason either to protect you as a member of the community or ourselves against litigation and copyright

We run a three strikes and you are out policy (unless otherwise stated), if you break a minor rule you will most probably get a PM from one of our moderators to advise you on the forum rules and direct you hare.

If you then break a rule you will get what is called an infraction on your profile. Infractions last for 30 days (unless otherwise stated at the time of the infraction being given) If you get three in fractions in any 30 day period you will be banned form the forums for life.

If you continually break the rules even after infraction have been given then we may choose to either suspend you account on the board or put you into a fully moderated usergroup, both are explained below;

  • Suspension - If a moderator thinks that you have broken the rules enough to be banned or you have earned three infraction in any 30 day period but he/she thinks that a life ban is too harsh for the rules you have broken then they may choose to just suspend you account. The time is up to them but generally the periods of 1 month, 3 months and in the extream 12 months are used.
  • Fully Moderated - If you have broken any of the rule sin the Forum Conduct section above then a moderator may choose to put you into a fully moderated usergroup, this means that every post you make on the board will have to be approved by a moderator before being put onto the public forum.

General Questions

Can I change my user name?
The short answer is no, so take care when choosing your user name. It will be with you for the duration of your membership.

I want to be a Moderator, how do I become one?
There is only one way to become a TSF Moderator. If a position becomes available then the most suitable person to fill that specific need will be asked if they would like to become a Mod. In short, you don't request to be a Mod, you're chosen based on personality and posting history. If we notice that you have a tendency to be harsh or demeaning towards other members then this will immediately eliminate you from consideration. The ability to interact effectively and with restraint when dealing with other members is a key factor in the selection process.

If you are interested in becoming a Moderator then you should basically act as if you already are one. Be helpful and considerate of others. Act in a manner that shows respect for opinions that differ from yours, and be calm when confronted with adversity. As a TSF Moderator you will be expected to set an example for others to follow. It is people who do this without the title that are the ones we ask to wear it.

Sock puppets/Multiple accounts
You are allowed one account and one account only at TSF. Users with more than one account will have all of their accounts banned. (we can easily trace multiple accounts)

How Each Forum Works
Each forum has its own characters and way of doing things. It is best to take a little time and have a look round before posting. Get acquainted with how things work in that forum and you'll find your stay here an enjoyable experience.
