Hi, ive recently posted my fathers old Hunt & O'Byrne 1 piece cue and case on Ebay.
Any ideas on how much i should be looking to get for this??
I have turned down an offer to "buy it now" at £130 but im not sure.
It is immaculate, about 23 year old, straight as an arrow and been boxed in its case for at least the 8 years i have owned it.
It has only been listed for 2 hours and i have had 3 bids, 13 watchers and a offer of £130 already.
for pictures check the following link or search ebay for Hunt & O'Byrne

Don't sell it to that cheeky bitch Julie for 130 squid.
One went on ebay recently for 500 plus.

I doubt very much you would get 500 for a green plate, but it is worth more than 130.
My guess is around the 250-300 at most.

Back in the mid 90's the green plate cues were standard of £210, the black plate started from £300. That is going back over a decade ago so you can probably almost double those prices today for a collector. You can never be certain of the interest though, as someone pointed out, its a green plate and are not as collectable, doesn't detract from the quality of the cue though.

it will do £200-£300 on ebay i would think - more than 130 anyway - i would give you that!

unfortunately the price of cues does not go up like inflation, however it does look like a nice example and as i said somewhere between 250-300 it should fetch and i think that's about right. cracking cue m8.

I've looked at that one, always wanted a hunt & o'byrne as the guy i used to play snooker with when i was younger had one, although as stated above the black plate ones are the ones that go for £400+, a green plate should do about £250.

Looks like a custom cue coffin, i had a mate who would know these out for guys at the club, not really worth anything nowadays with all the cues/extensions/towels/etc but were fantastic back when all you had was a one piece cue and a bit of chalk.

Was this custom made to the length of the cue?
Is that called "custom cue coffin" officially?

It was just what the mate called them, he was a carpenter/joiner and made them himself, he would get a good quality bit of wood, hollow it out, put some hinges and clasps on it and some felt inside and they would fit his cue perfectly, instead of the usual foam liner or loose feel.
I see the cue is £340 with a day to go, i can't believe the prices on ebay
