View Full Version : Ssb - raising the bar

Some incredible snooker from John Higgins and Ronnie O'Sullivan today has set up what will be their first ever meeting in the UK Championship.
They've been the two outstanding players of the decade so it's fitting they should meet in its last ranking event, even if it's in the semis and not the final.
Standards have improved over the years but so have conditions. The balls split far more easily than they once did on these super-fast cloths, which makes break building easier.
But the key word there is 'easier' - they still have to be knocked in and Higgins and O'Sullivan today produced between them some really outstanding stuff.
Bring on Saturday!

That's amazing considering how many times they have faced each other. Although Higgins hasn't done too well in the UK in the recent years, that might explain it a little..

Hopefully it will be a close match just like when they met in the 2nd Round of the Grand Prix earlier in the season.
Has all the makings of a potential classic..

I hope it too, the last two affairs between them hasn't been nowhere near classics. But obviously they are both playing very well so I can't see the standard dropping dramatically.

Hopefully not one player running away again, there has been far too many of those matches this year. The bottomdraw made promise of so many close matches, but besides Cope- Selby and Higgins - Robertson there hasnīt been too much exitement till now.

Carter-Ding was quite good
and if we could see Lines-Williams it was quite dramatic aswell

Well he did shave for the premier league final... bad, bad decision! :D
I've seen ice hockey players doing this, not shaving while playing in Stanley cup play-offs. Well those who reach finals have quite large beards by then. Someone has told Ronnie about it? :)

What is this long going story about shaving
Anyway, don't expect a classic in this one. From what I've seen so far, I can easily say that they are not playing incredible snooker. But they are just too solid to beat at the moment for any other player..
But full of drama is going to be there, waiting for us :)
