At the moment the plan is to allow each local club to choose the dates and times that best suit their venues diary's, within a time frame of course, so there should be no problems regarding clashing with your proposed event.
Best of luck with your TSF members event!

I should have mentioned that promotional material will be being sent to every snooker club in the UK and Ireland so each club should be aware of the tournament over the next few days.
More information can now be found here (http://www.onqpromotions.co.uk/site/Pink%20Ribbon.aspx).
We also have a facebook fan page which you are more than welcome to join here (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/pages/Pink-Ribbon-Snooker-Pro-Am-Tournament/245098608830?ref=mf).

The website shouldn't be down?!? It's working fine for me. Perhaps I did the link wrong. Try HERE (http://www.onqpromotions.co.uk/site/Pink%20Ribbon.aspx)
Everything is coming together very nicely. There has been a lot of interest in this tournament which we are really pleased about-obviously! Hi Sarah
Thanks for putting my worried mind at ease. I still can't access it but it maybe just me.

Hi Jonplayer,
No problem at all. I can access the site so I hope it is running ok. We've had a large number of hits this morning as well so I'd imagine others are accessing it ok. Hopefully you'll be able to view it soon.
We started sending letters and posters to snooker clubs this week. Any club can hold qualifiers and the top four players qualify for the regional rounds. If any one club have only 4 applicants then they will automatically qualify for the next round, then we choose regional clubs to give us regional
winners. The PIOS players and the Pro's then join and contest the finals in Gloucester at the new South West Snooker Academy.
Hope that answers a few questions. Feel free to ask me any more questions you may have.

Hello All!
We have now confirmed the date of the finals which are to be held at the South West Snooker Academy (www.southwestsnookeracademy.com) between Thursday 17th June-Sunday 20th June 2010.
There has been a lot of interest from clubs, PIOS players and Pros so it is sure to be a great event and we are confident of raising a substantial amount for breast cancer charities.
If anyone wishes to enter but hasn't seen anything in their club, feel free to email me at sarah.mount@onqpromotions.co.uk and I will forward everything your club would need. The more people we get to enter, the more money raised for charity as well as the more people to join in the fun!
The club player who progresses the furthest in the tournament will win the chance for one or more of our stable of professional players to play an exhibition match at their club, free of charge!
Once again, feel free to get in touch if you need anymore information.

This sounds like a fantastic resource for the local area Sarah. I can't seem to find which local area it is though. Maybe it's me but there doesn't seem to be an address on the site anywhere. I'm assuming the construction isn't over; does this mean you don't know the address yet?
In looking on your Q site I saw the pink ribboned event and just wanted to clarify that your borrowing from poker in allowing buy-ins from players already knocked out?
Also, I can understand pro's getting straight through to the venue but what is the reasoning for PIOS players too? Is this fair for all the players that have played local then regional rounds to find someone else is playing round 1? Or are you just basing you format on the MT? lol
Whoever is responsible for this Academy should be commended. It's a much needed facility in the South and I hope it goes from strength to strength. Well done and good luck!

Hello Magicman!
Thank you for your compliments regarding the academy. You are correct, it is still in the process of being built. It will be in Quedgley in Gloucester and we are anticipating it to be fully kitted out and ready for use for May. It is in a standalone 20,000 square foot building and is one of several units being built in the area-hence no address as of yet.
As for the buy-ins. Only those who just miss out on qualifying from the regional finals will be offered the chance to buy in once again in the place of any professional who may have pulled out for whatever reason.
I totally understand you querying why PIOS players join the Pro's in starting at the national finals. This was due to several reasons. Our tournament director, Roland van Laere, also runs the PIOS giving us the chance to get as many of the PIOS boys involved, therefore raising more money for breast cancer charities. Also, many of these guys are the future of snooker and we are keen to give them as many opportunities as possible to compete against Pros and encourage particularly the youth who play on the PIOS. One of our aims for the academy is to offer the opportunity for talented individuals to practice on the highest of facilities and enhance their chances of achieving their potential so to have the highest ranked amateurs involved reaffirms this.
The man responsible for this academy from the idea stage to where it is now is Paul Mount who manages several professional players. He has put a lot of his time and effort into this and we are hopeful that the facilities provided will benefit snooker from grass roots upwards.
We will be adding photos of the construction process over the next few weeks to the academy website so feel free to keep checking back to see the growth of what we hope, and believe, to be a successful new venture.
Thanks again for taking the time to look at our website and let us know your thoughts!
Regards
Sarah
PS Just to add that the academy is a non profit making organisation with any profits being put back into sporting charities in order to keep the development of sport at the fore front of the academy's aims.

Hello Guys!
So as not to take over the 'Lazy Players' thread I thought a new one outlining the Pink Ribbon may be a good idea.
All Pro's and PIOS players will start at the finals weekend in Gloucester at the South West Snooker Academy (http://www.southwestsnookeracademy.com).
The academy is a non-profit organisation with any profits going to charitable causes. One of our chosen charities are breast cancer charities. Our management company, On Q Promotions, looks after several professional players, all of whom wear pink backed waistcoats in order to raise awareness of breast cancer amongst snooker fans. We are keen to promote that the 'Boys are doing it for the Girls' as this is a way men can let other men know about the signs they should be looking out for and for them to spread that knowledge to the women in their lives-wives, girlfriends, mothers, daughters etc. We also appreciate that there are a large number of women who play and watch snooker and of course if we can reach them first hand with the message then that is great!
The Pros have been keen to support this event since its conception in late 2009. So far we have the following who have registered and paid their entrance fee Jimmy White, Barry Hawkins, Barry Pinches, Ben Woolaston, Chris Norbury, Dave Harold, Gerard Greene, Judd Trump, Mark Davis, Mark Joyce, Matthew Selt, Michael Holt, Nigel Bond, Ricky Walden, Robert Milkins, Rod Lawler, Stephen Lee, Stuart Bingham, Tom Ford, Tony Drago and Dominic Dale. There are also several top 16 players interested in participating as well as more Pros who have shown an interest so we expect these numbers to increase.
If you are interested in taking part club players can qualify for the finals weekend at their local clubs. If your club is not holding a qualifying event, don't worry, you can still take part as Rileys are in the process of organising special qualifying events at their clubs.
Alternatively, If your local club is not holding a qualifying event but you would like to organise one for your club then that would be great. Anyone who organises a qualifier for their club with 10 or more entries will be given a pair of free spectator tickets for the final day of the event. If you are interested in organising a qualifying event for your club then if you contact me on sarah.mount@onqpromotions.co.uk I will be able to send you everything you will need.
Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
Regards
Sarah
Also, the club player who goes the furthest in the competition will win for one of our stable of professional players to perform an exhibition match at their local club where they qualified, free of charge!

Thanks Matt! Rileys clubs should be offering the chance to take part in the next week or so. They are just sorting out the logistics at the moment before they announce it. You can make a decision after the announcement as we are being slightly flexible with the deadline (within reason) to allow Rileys customers the opportunity to get involved.

Just a short note regarding the date for the Pink Ribbon finals weekend. We are aware, since the release of the 2010-11 World Snooker Calendar, that the first Player Tour Championship event is due to take place on the same weekend as the Pink Ribbon tournament at South West Snooker Academy. We are speaking with World Snooker at the moment in order to get more information so we can make a decision regarding if we will need to reschedule our finals weekend. Hi cazmac1,
Rileys marketing manager had assured us that he was going to send all of the information we provided him through to his managers in order for them to organise qualifiers. Having heard from several people that their Rileys were unaware of the event we contacted the marketing manager again and have since found out from the same gentleman that he no longer thinks this sort of event would appeal to 'Rileys' customers. We are hugely disappointed as we wanted the event to be open to EVERYONE who wished to enter.
In answer to your other question, due to lack of snooker clubs getting involved we have now decided not to run the regional finals so those who qualify at their clubs will make it directly through to the finals weekend at South West Snooker Academy. Therefore, it is only one location away from your home club and that is the finals where the Pros and PIOS players join in.
Hope that answers your questions. If you, or anyone else, have any more questions feel free to post them!

Hi everyone,
I've been in contact with Sarah about the possibility of us putting on a qualifying event here in Brighton.
I've asked some of my local players and to honest there wasn't a lot of interest in travelling to Gloucester for the finals so there would be no point in our event. (There aren't a huge number if players in Brighton that ever travel around for these types of event, it has nothing to do with this tournament in particular).
HOWEVER,
I am still happy to put one on if I get enough players from outside Brighton to make it worthwhile. If anyone is interested then please email me over the next week and I'll then weigh up the situation. I can't offer an exact date or any details other than it would be a Sunday, presumably in May. If interest is high enough I'll work out the details and promote it here.
Thanks

Sarah - sorry to hear about Rileys - surprised as they were quite supportiveof the Waistcoat events we used to run - but that might be down to individual clubs.
Sorry to bother you at Easter but Jamie's (O'Neill) club in Rushden, Northants are interested in running a qualifying event. Could you send some details of what they have to do and if you offer any promotional material. Do the players have to send the entry to you before the qualifying and how many qualifyers are allowed from each club? If it's not too late.
Rushden has produced World Champs Peter Ebdon & Shaun Murphy so they are trying to get themselves back on the map and an event like this would greatly help I think.
If you want to message me or ring me that would be great or contact the club on 01933 319191. Roland has got my number I think or will have Jamies.#

You're welcome cazmac1. If you are near Staines I know that a player from their Rileys club is looking to organise an event himself. I can put you in touch with him if you like. Castle Snooker Club in Brighton is also another option although I'm not sure how easy West London to Brighton is as a journey. I will check to see if there are anymore nearer to you. Hi Anthony,
Thank you for letting me know. It's a shame their are no players in Brighton keen to take part but we are very grateful of you to take the time to help organise a qualifier for those who can travel to Brighton. I'm sure many of the forum members have seen the great comments about your club in other threads so hopefully there will be some people in the surrounding areas who will be interested in your qualifier. Thank you once again.

Hi Goldengirl,
We were disappointed that Rileys were not keen to get involved but they are a large chain and have their own projects that they run in order to promote snooker so it is understandable. Whilst we would have loved for their clubs to have been involved, we were mainly keen to try to help individual snooker clubs to get players into their clubs without having to worry about providing prize money. Unfortunately, the interest from clubs was less than we had hoped for but this is an event we are intending to run annually so if we can make this years a fantastic event then hopefully more clubs will want to join in for next years. That is fantastic news that Jamie's club are interested in holding a qualifier. If you message me an email address I will email you the entry form and a poster for the club. We are currently running the qualifiers on the basis of two qualifiers for every 10 entrants so if you have twenty entrants then four will progress to the finals and so on. Thank you for taking the time to get in touch and help to help us make this tournament a success and raise lots of money for charity whilst having fun! Many thanks for your best wishes also.

Hello everyone,
I'm pleased to announce we will be holding a qualifying event for the pink ribbon ProAm on Sunday 16th May.
Entry is £20, this covers both the qualifier and the ProAm. For every five players that attend our event one will progress through to the ProAm.
The qualifier will be a round robin format so you will all be guaranteed a good value day of high quality snooker even if you don't progress through to the ProAm.
Please help us support a good cause!

Hi Ryan,
We haven't heard back from The Grove despite trying on numerous occasions so we are therefore assuming they are not interested in holding a qualifier. We're disappointed as there has been a fair bit of interest from Essex based snooker fans/players. The number of places holding qualifiers is fewer now due to the nearing of the deadline for the draw at the beginning of May. If I hear of a club near you holding a qualifier I will let you know on here.
Apologies Ryan!

Hi Mark,
We currently don't have a qualifier taking place in Leicester. The nearest to you is probably the one in Leamington Spa that Welshsteve has mentioned in the post below yours. Still not close though! We are in the process of finalising other ways in which to enter which will be announced on this thread asap.

Rileys in Staines are indeed organising a qualifier. It is a member of the club who is organising it though as opposed to the club manager. If you are interested in entering then please PM me your details and I will pass them on to the organiser for you.

Hi Mark, had quite a few people pull out, due to our neighbouring league running their finals week over this week. Therefore I'm now trying to scrape together enough for a qualifier at the weekend. If not, it will be done during next week. I will keep you informed. Private message me your number and/or email and I'll let you know.

I just rang Rileys in Hanley Stoke-On-Trent to see if they are holding qualifiers in their club and they knew nothing about it!!! How ridiculous! You would think that Rileys would want to be on board especially after having dozens of their clubs taken out of action in recent months. Unless their lack of attention speaks volumes in terms of expectation???

Lee Stephens won todays Q Bar Qualifier.
We ran a round robin Group with 6 Players. 5 matches. All best of 5's.
Plenty of Snooker.
1 player to go through to Gloucester and 2 given free entry into next weekends Q Bar Qualifier.
We intend to hold 3 in total.
Danny Connolly from Macclesfield came as to did Mike Smith from Stoke on Trent so hopefully we can attract more players from those areas.

Hi Mosconi,
That is great news! The way qualifiers are currently working are for each player to pay a £20 fee to play in the qualifier and one person qualifies for every five entrants. So if there are ten entrants you find two qualifiers, 15 entrants will find three qualifiers etc. Once your event has taken place you then send us all of the entry forms and fees along with the names of those who have qualified so they can progress to the draw. The finals weekend is taking place at the South West Snooker Academy in Gloucester between 17th-20th June so ideally we would need to have the names of your qualifiers by the end of May.
If you have any more questions or you would like me to email you a copy of the entry form then please do feel free to email me on sarah.mount@onqpromotions.co.uk

Hi everyone,
Don't forget we are holding our Pink Ribbon qualifying event this Sunday, that's the 16th May.
- Entry Fee : £20, covering entry into this event and the finals in Gloucester.
- limited to 30 entrants, first come first served. Interest is high so contact me by phone or email if you are definitely coming and I will reserve you a place. Please don't turn up without letting me know in advance because I will need to prepare the tables etc.
- The event will start at 11am sharp, so please arrive by 10:30am if possible.
(If late, 1 Frame will be deducted for every 20mins after 11am)
********************************************
- Round Robin, groups of 5. (That of course means everyone will have to sit out while one match is played, so please be patient)
- Best of 3 frames
- group tables based on :
- 1st : total frames won
- 2nd : total matches won
- in the event of two players tying : winner of their previous match is placed higher
- in the event of more than two players tying : high breaks are taken into account, then the top two players are compared under the above rule.
- top 2 in each group go through to a single knockout round, best of 5 frames, with a winner playing a runner-up. (There will be no overall winner to the day as 1 in 5 entrants qualify for Gloucester)
********************************************
Without knowing exactly how many people are playing it's difficult to plan a round robin that reduces 5 entrants to 1 winner, so if the number of entrants works strongly against the above format, then I reserve the right to change any or all of it. ;)
I hope we have a good turnout for the sake of an excellent charitable cause!
Thanks
Anthony

Hi Cazmac1,
I am sorry to hear you didn't qualify. From what I heard regarding the Brighton qualifier it was a great day with some high quality snooker in a superb club. We don't have any other qualifiers taking place now in the South East I am afraid as the finals are less than a month away now.
Thank you so much for taking the time to enter the tournament though. We are planning to run this tournament every year as well as numerous Proams throughout the year at the Academy so hopefully we will see you at one of those in the near future.

The Pink Ribbon Tournament is now full with all 128 places filled. I have received a large number of emails recently from people asking if they can now take part so we are offering people the chance to be included on a reserve list in case we have any players drop out in the lead up to the event.
It will be on a first come, first served basis and we will contact people from the reserve list in order of them confirming their interest. If the first person we call is not able to attend then we will call the second, then the third and so on until we get a positive response.
There is no payment required to be on the reserve list although if you were to be invited to take the place of an absent participant then we would ask for a payment of £50 (this is the price of a place for those who have not attended a qualifier).
We will obviously try to give reserve players as much notice as possible but it could be on the day of the match so please bear this in mind when deciding if you would like to be included or not.
If you would like to be on our reserve list can you please email me at sarah.mount@onqpromotions.co.uk and I will include you on the list.

Hi,
Any new pictures on how the academy is coming along. Is it all going to schedule? Will it definately be ready for the tournament to go ahead on time? Thanks.
Hi Madman,
I don't have many updated images at the moment. The one I have attached to this post is from earlier in the month. It shows Michael Wasley (PIOS) and Reanne Evans at the site. I am hoping Paul will send me some more updated images soon as I am dying to see how the building looks now. I believe the carpets went in last week and the 13 Star tables are being delivered and assembled in less than a week now!
It hasn't been without it's issues, as is often the case with most building projects, but all is going to plan at the moment (touch wood) and we are still on target for the Pink Ribbon tournament :)
The builders have been fantastic and Paul Mount has invited them all to the Pink Ribbon tournament as a thank you for all of their hard work.
thanks for the interest madman and as soon as I have any new pictures I will ensure they are posted on here.

Mignon, thank you very much indeed for your incredibly kind words. A lot of work has gone into the Academy by a lot of people to all of whom we are very grateful. Even a few of the Pro players have popped in the last couple of days to help with finishing touches with is just fantastic! Considering less than 12 weeks ago they were just starting to lay the brick work it is incredible what the builders and contractors have acheived and many of them have gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the Academy is ready to hold this tournament. We hope that the Academy will bring many moments of enjoyment to as many people as possible both through it's use and also through the money it will raise for charitable causes. As this is the day before the launch of the Academy I would like to thank everyone on The Snooker Forum who has taken an interest in the South West Snooker Academy-we have been overwhelmed by the level of support we have received and it will always be remembered.
