Hi folks, had the old blinkers put through their paces today, my 1 eye is almost spot on, the other is like an old leather rugby ball with a puncture...;).

This might be a stupid question but i'm gonna ask anyways...:D

How good do the eyes really need to be to "see" the shot/angle etc...
And would slight bad sight be hindering my game atall? Would it likely improve my sighting and overall improvement of play if i was to wear lenses/specs, eye patch...(ignore the last 1) i mean i can see the balls from 1 end of the table t'other without glasses like...(just about)..:p

I know it's bound to be better to have 20/20 vision for snooker, i'm just after opinions/experiences or know how on how bad the eyes would have to be before it would affect the game to any extent, would the game/standard of play drop/be hindered by the slightest fade in the old blinkers?...

I realise it would come into play more on long shots, but would it make me slightly see wrong angles etc on most shots or generally just the long ones?...

Silly question maybe, but peoples thoughts and opinions on this would be great...

BTW...My eye test results were, 0.50 and 1.75 (Astigmatism in the worse 1) if that means owt to ya...:p

Cheers...

Ant...:snooker:

Unfortunately, any defect in the eye is going to have an impact on your playing ability. This game is all about co-cordinations. The eyes, along with the brain and the rest of the nervous system, are essential compotents to co-ordination.

My suggestion to you is to have this corrected ASAP. There are lots of treatment options, even for astigmatism. Astigmatism is more successfully treated the sooner it is done.

my eyes are not good i wear glasses when watching tv and for driving. when i play snooker any shots that are close together i cant see the edge of the ball they blur in to each other. i am ok on shots that are 1f to 5f apart anything over that its just played off memory i have tried contacts but just cant get used to them.

Have you thought about laser eye correction. This would get over the hurdle of having to wear contacts. if you can afford it is well worth considering.
