According to the schedule of matches on global-snooker the whole first round should have been played today. But nothing has been updated...

If Janie was at the World Final then I doubt she would have got to the PIOS today (yesterday).

And I assume Janie is staying in Sheffield for players meeting.

Further result from yesterday Adam Wicheard beat Ian Brumby 4-1 and plays Alfie Burden today and Stephen Craigie has a bye into round 3 which gives him a great chance of claiming 8th spot in the rankings and a main tour place.

I haven't yet mastered the art of being in two places at once or stuck in traffic for hours either. Although Barry Hearn did brightly tell me on Monday night that it's mind over matter, but I haven't figured that one out yet.

Normal service is now resumed!

JanieWatkins

all up to date now, waiting for one match off first session this morning.

5th May 2010, 12:03 PM
thanks Janie - looks like even more withdrawals than in previous years - maybe a qualifying school is a better option.

am I right in concluding that Paul Davison won't need to play again until the quarter finals!

The last two events always have a lot of withdrawals, especially the last event, but it can have a massive bearing on the rankings for the top players and those trying to get into the top 8.

It's a situation that is very difficult to address at end of season so maybe it is another good case for the qualifying school.

Liam has just gone out this morning and is gutted - After all there's a £3,000 first prize to be won and that is a very big pay day for an amateur player... wish I could play, I'd be trying my heart out to win and earn some dosh.

so top 5 - Highfield, Lisowski, Davison, K Wilson and McGill definitely have qualified for main tour.

Jm Jones and O'Neill almost there.

nb. If Burden finishes in top 8 9th place qualifies for main tour too

Thanks Janie, it's not like I was complaining but it's just that we are used to this super-human efficiency from the Global Snooker website....
And nice to see you here, the first person I know, this is Laura. :o))

yes, burden has already qualified from IBSF event

Does 9th place automatically get a place, because Alfie has got his through IBSF? I thought the 8th place left a wildcard for World Snooker to allocate, rather than it being automatically given to PIOS 9th ranked.

You may be correct Wester, I honestly don't know

How god does Kurt Maflin have to do to qulify to the main tour?

Nice wins for Jamie and Alfie, Jamie is now surely safe

If he reaches the final, he will be on 580 points, if he wins it then 660 points. He will have to get to at least the final and even then it might not be enough, he would be depending on other results to go his way. And I have just checked and he just lost so he now cant qualify. sorry

TinnyTB
6th May 2010, 03:09 PM
Is there a European Championship he can quilify to the main tour from like Tony Drago did last year? And if it is, when?

goldengirl
6th May 2010, 03:43 PM
Mathematically Jamie O could still lose out - and Jamie Jones must be praying to the gods as there's nothing he can do about it just hope for results to go his way - and hope the twitchers are out in force!

goldengirl
6th May 2010, 03:47 PM
If one of Top 8 finishers have already qualified I do not think 9 th place automatically gets it, although historically it has generally happened. I e-mailed WS for this to be confirmed before the PIOS began but have not, as yet, received a reply. Must be busy with something else!
Here again is where discretionary wildcards can cause problems.

Janie - can you just remind me what happens if players are level on points please?

Janie - can you just remind me what happens if players are level on points please?

i think it goes to how they performed in their last event and if level then to the event before and so on

Yes that's right - players tied on points - then look at points in event 8, if still level look at event 7 and so on back to event 1.

Janie - can you just remind me what happens if players are level on points please?

Relax now Val, we all think Jamie has done the job now.....
especially as Stephen Craigie lost to Igor this afternoon.

The other matches have been very slow (lots of twitching going on) so we'll know a lot more by the end of tonight's matches.

Jamie Jones is number one on Welsh rankings I think so he could still get through that way - but I stand to be corrected cos I'm not sure if anyone can still overtake him with the Welsh Championship points and Jamie is out of that.

Is there a European Championship he can quilify to the main tour from like Tony Drago did last year? And if it is, when?

Kurt is competing in both the European Play offs and the European Championship and having looked at the runners and riders for both, he'll be amongst the favourites for the Euro Play offs, alongside the usual contenders like Kristjan Helgason, Alex Borg, the German lads and the top Belgians and Dutch lads.

JanieWatkins
6th May 2010, 09:22 PM
Congratulations of Jamie O - definitely cannot be caught or overtaken now - he's qualified

Justin Astley's win tonight moves him up to no 8 and pushes Stephen Craigie down to No 9.

Jack Lisowski just knocked out Snowy - who hadn't lost a frame all week until tonight. Jack on the cards to finish as PIOS Number One now

Hi Janie,
this is Laura like I said before, I think you didn't hear... Does Igor have a chance if he keeps on winning? In my calculations one more win would practically do it the points as they are, but obviously others have points to score as well...

By my calculations: Jack Lisowski, Liam Highfield, Paul Davison, Kyren Wilson, Anthony McGill, Jamie O'Neill and Jamie Jones are safe. If Igor Figueiredo wins the event, he'll join them; otherwise Justin Astley will join them *unless* he loses his next match and Sam Craigie wins the event (in which case Sam Craigie will join them).

Igor is one of the few who has scored points each event - so 20 points has to be deducted from his final points total (best of 7 events) taking him to 610 if he wins it level with Jamie Jones I reckon.

Yes - Igor needs to win the event, as does Sam Craigie

Just like to say thanks to Rushden Snooker Centre who have now helped two players - Kyren Wilson and Jamie O'Neill - to qualify for the Main Tour. This follows two World Champions Peter Ebdon and Shaun Murphy who both played and practised at the club. Must be in the water!!

No - he's Brazilian and represents Brazil.

Igor's people should have already sent in a nomination and IBSF should have too, on his behalf, as IBSF runner up.

If there's any spare wild card places floating about he must be a good candidate.

As is Stephen Craigie and his little brother Sam, who have both had superb seasons and would be good to have "Brother Act" on tour together.

8th May 2010, 01:29 PM
Many congrats to Jack Lisowski. he's won the last event.
He's finished No 1 and he's broken the all time points record.

And congrats to all 8 players at the top of the rankings who will now be nominated to WSA for a place on Tour.

I suppose it's no question of 'named and shamed' so I'll just ask who are the players who qualify for the pro circuit? (too week-end lazy at the mo to make the calculations myself :p :D!
