Pegasus Snooker Club
Presents
THE 2011 NOTTINGHAM ORDER OF MERIT

************************************************** ****

How it works:

There will be 10 Sunday tournaments (3rd or 5th Sunday of each month, Jan – Oct) followed by the grand finals on 20th November 2011.
Each monthly qualifying tournament will offer a prize fund and ranking points. There is also a plate competition
The entrance fee for each event shall be £10, which guarantees you at least three matches (min 6-8 frames).
Each tournament will be handicapped using the NBSA handicaps. Each player will retain their handicap throughout the events.

Each of the 10 Sunday Competitions are technically qualifying events and will offer you ranking points (to be known as ‘order of merit’).
Although you do not need to attend each qualifying event, obviously the more events you do attend the more ranking points you are likely to rack-up.
At the end of the final qualifying event in October the top 16 ranked players in the ‘order of merit’ will qualify for the grand finals in November

Each monthly event will be a straight knockout competition with all 1st & 2nd round losers being entered into a plate competition which will also offer ranking points and a small prize fund.
Upon arrival you will also play a 2 frame Ranking Match against someone of a similiar standard to ensure you are warmed up nicely for the main event (Each frame of the Ranking Match is worth 250 bonus ranking points).

Tournament Rules

1. The ‘Nottingham Order of Merit’ is open to all amateurs of all standards but not to players currently playing on the Main Pro Tour.
The Tournament Director reserves the right to refuse admission.
2. All handicaps are NBSA based.
3. Entrance fee to be paid on day of event. No Pay, No Play!
4. All matches played to World Snooker Rules except the miss rule, which will only be played when there is a referee and both players agree or both players agree before match starts. When playing the miss rule the miss shall only be called upto a maximum of 3 attempts before normal play resumes.
5. No dress code.
6. The Tournament Director has the right to adjust Prize funds accordingly should the number of contestants be lower than 16
7. The Tournament Director's decision will be final in all cases.

If you're available just turn up. We are a friendly bunch here in Notts. If you know Jimmy Gratton you could give him a lift and he'll share the petrol costs with you! ;)

Is it open to literally anyone or only those known in Nottingham? How is the handicap worked out if your not known?

It's open to anyone from anywhere. You will be given a handicap on the day based on your highest break etc. We rely on honesty and in return we will always give a generous opening handicap to ensure you have a good tournament.
