Your right, t'was utter ****.

it was a idea and it was tried out but it did not work and then a few months later the shootout happened and that overtook it.....

thats the thing with gimmicks when another gimmick comes along thats the in thing same with 6 reds and onefourseven from global snooker before that.

snooker has stood the test of time because its basic and simple to understand no gimmicks needed.

There was too many rules and few needed dropping. Otherwise, it would be fine. Probably a good game to play if the rules are minimised.

We had Pool and from that, 9 ball. Thats a good game. So variations can work but they need thinking about a bit more. The Shotout was thought over properly and was much better.

I think I seen somewhere that it is taking place in November I may be wrong though.
If they are putting the tournament on again they should stick to a normal star tournament table as the colour of the pockets, table, type of cloth just didn't look right. Also saying powerzone every 5 seconds is annoying after a while.
As a one off tournament though I think it can work.

It's not as bad as what some make out. A few rules need cutting but the main problem for me is the crowd. Too many idiots getting carried away. By all means get involved but random shouting out all the time gets on your nerves.

You will have to point out to me where i said ''blonde's don't know anything about Snooker.'' Take your time.

This women, however, is thick. She can't speak without getting words wrong. She's also got the names wrong. Ronnie Sullivan and Justin Trump.

If you don't get professionals in and do a proper job, it's a ded end before it starts.

The live band are awful. The walk on takes forever. Mark Allen's walk on music was Tonight's gonna be a good night. It was 2 o clock in the afternoon.

Like i said, the game itself i don't mind. It's something a bit different. Not everyones cup of tea, which is fair enough but the whole set up is appalling. As amaturish as it gets. Even the expensive seats & tables are at the same level as the Snooker table. How can you see anything?

Best part was when that presenter called John Higgins, Mark Higgins, seriously get people that even know the names of the players, Clive Everton not there this year, probably because they still own Clive money from last years event, wonder how many unpaid invoices there will be this year?

Nice to finally see a article on World Snooker's site about Power Snooker and it was basically sign up for livesport.tv and give us your money to watch this crap when you can get it for free on ITV4 lol love the way World Snooker have endorsed and publicised this event NOT, guessing they feel the same as the rest of us about it, they are happy to take their money and say that it is a World Snooker endorsed event but they will not even give it publicity lol

Snooker for the ADD, binge drinking, illiterate generation. Players who can't be arsed (Ding Junhui for one), referees who don't know the rules and can't count (Jan vdh), bimbo presenters and shopping mall acoustics make for the biggest mess ever seen on British TV in the name of sporting experimentation. I assume the players are being well remunerated, otherwise why are they bothering? They know this is sh#t and can't even hide it (Ali Carter, for one).

Yet, I still watched 20 minutes of it, thinking at least it might get someone to visit a snooker club...

20/20 cricket hasn't killed off an even more traditional game than snooker and this probably won't kill real snooker but you do wonder sometimes...

Who was that thick piece of **** in the audience? Was it a Nolan sister that hosts that dross on daytime t.v?

''I've never been a fan of Snooker but this has brought the game into the 21st century''.

Some people shouldn't be allowed an opinion. Or a warning put on screen giving you the option to mute the t.v because some moron is about to give a moronic opinion.

I believe this would be so much better if it was more like how the legends tour is run. A bit of fun and banter but proper Snooker people throughout.

What next? Crazy Golf Ryder Cup presented by Jedward? Maybe Euro 2012 with goals at the half way line, presented by Jodie Marsh. Epic viewing

Ali is just a bad loser he was absoluteness gutted at losing after throwing away a great opportunity to beat Ronnie. The way he spoke to that girl was embarrassing she was just trying to do her job after all. If any player wanted to make a statement about the tournament they should have declined the invitation to play sadly it seems money talks more than refusing to take part in this circus. I thought that they would have learnt lessons from the last one but if any thing it is worse then the first power snooker event.

If Power snooker is the direction that snooker is heading in, then I see a grim future for the game! Even the players look seriously uncomfortable with the whole format. Don't even get me started on the walk-ons and that so called walk-on band, awful.... just absolutely awful.
Roll on 2:30 and the Darts on Sky, it's painful seeing snooker treated like this.

PowerSnooker has Pros and Cons for me. I like the format as far as the game is concerned, but the whole show around it is not neccessary, if not embarassing at times.
The players enjoy it most of the times.

Could this be the future of Snooker? Definetely not.

Is it a nice little one-year occurance, where you can take a small break from regular snooker? I think it is.
So it's not all that bad :)

They should scrap this tournament and just add more 6-red and 10-red events with a shot clock, if they really want a faster product.

Snooker is stun-and-screw, pool is spin-and-follow. You need a nap to play snooker. This failed experiment was obviously created by people who don't play cuesports.

maybe a stupid question..... can the players hear the commentators? The reason I ask is there seems to be an echo on them as if their voice is being pumped into the arena. An absolutely terrible idea if it is true.

Yes I think you're right, must be very distracting on top of everything else.

They should scrap this tournament and just add more 6-red and 10-red events with a shot clock, if they really want a faster product.

Snooker is stun-and-screw, pool is spin-and-follow. You need a nap to play snooker. This failed experiment was obviously created by people who don't play cuesports.
I've played on this cloth on a pool table and didn't like it a all. I certainly don't want to see it on a snooker table.

That "blonde bimbo" that doesn't know anything, actually has a degree in Law and German. So maybe you shouldn't be so judgemental. Probably more intelligent than the average user on here.

Whatever the opinions on the game, one thing is for sure and that is Ronnie is playing the best Snooker i've seen him play for a long time. He was red hot in the last PTC and last Thursday in the league. His performance tonight versus Robertson, is scary. He is simply unplayable.

Someone else that doesn't read what has been posted. Who said she doesn't know anything? Her interviewing skills, however, are atrocious, degree's or not. She gets her words mixed up and gets the players names wrong. So instead of googling her to see if she's single, read posts properly ;)

Oh and for the record, i don't blame her at all. She seems a really nice lass but if they want Power Snooker to be a sucess, they need to start getting professional. Lose the crap presenters. Lose the models doing amateurish interviews and lose that band. Get professionals to do a professional job and for god sake, stop the crowd from aimlessly yelling out all the time.

As someone who was a bit sceptical, I enjoyed the event more than I thought I would. There are a few thinkgs that are a little bit irksome but I do like the actual game and the nuances of tactics that are brought into the game with the different circumstances that crop up.

A little bit of twaeking and it could be a fully enjoyable lighthearted event which is successful in itself without threatening to overthrow the traditional tournament game.

I did actually read the posts. Calling her "thick" and whatever. Also good job on the googling to see if shes single, you were correct with that assumption...

But yea, I do agree the whole manner in which it was shown was pretty embarrassing and at points patronising towards the viewers. Also sick of biasness towards Ronnie. Hes a class act, but for the neutral it is rather annoying.

Tried to watch this event this time and while the table looked slightly better I had to switch of after 30 minutes as I found it to be a load of garbage.
Might get some more people into the game but hopefully they don't copy the fans with all the drunken shouting and carrying on.
Won't bother with this the next time it is on.

This was a fun event imo and I think they meant it to be so, the walk on and track is a main part of this.

To pick on a walk on track for the title referring to the wrong time of day as a negative is just ridiculous. Is there a list of rules that must be obeyed for a sting ? It's an upbeat track that a lot of people know so perfect to get the crowd going. I liked the way the crowd came in behind Ronnie , reminded me of Rocky.

The woman presenter did stutter a couple of times but doesn't everyone do that in real life sometime at least she corrected her self and carried on. Do you want the refs sacked when they make a mistake as both of this weekends have done several times over the last few years including some big ones.

A few improvements from last years, colours, less powerzone calling (sometimes) but i wondered about others, last year if you got consecutive centuries you got bonus points 50,100,200 i think. I didn't see day1 but no mention of it on day2 or the website.

Also I think the calling out just when someone is about to strike the cue ball should be stopped and camera flashes as Martin got one on a shot and missed but in this environment I understand it is hard to do.

Quite a few good games that were very close or sung around in quick time and its nice to see Ronnie in good form for a period of time at the moment.

If you don't like, don't watch but please find other things to try and moan about.

Major tounament win?

Your right - he just said it was his first win - Not even snooker really was it - but its amazing how much you love something (Dennis Taylor) if they pay you enough.
I'm sure if they placed a massive advertisement on the forum next year even we might change our minds.

One player that impressed me was actually John Higgins who clearly did not enjoy it. He did not wait to tweet, he just said it as it was. "I wont be back next year" or something like that -
Fair play to him -been to loads of events myself, quite shocked at the language and behaviour of the crowds - far worse than at the darts - nothing like any other snooker exhibition or event I have ever seen. I did not agree that it was a good atmposphere, personally I thought it was appauling (no class), there were children present and shame on the organisers for not keeping order better. It can be done at events such as these by getting rid of any trouble makers at the start - this sends a message to others in the crowd to yes have fun but dont go too far - I thought the show had one or two good aspects - the tv team of commentators did their best to hold it together and watching them play with the spotty white was good but the atmosphere was not as good as they kept saying it was. (I half expected a fight or a streaker) and it must have been un-nerving for the players too.

It is the ONLY event that I have ever been offered free tickets that I have actually turned down.

Yes, I agree.

I actually thought the event itself (on-table) was quite good and I enjoyed watching it. But, as Clive Everton said in his review of last year's Power Snooker event, they could surely have employed some kind of security staff who could have had quiet words with some of the more unruly among the spectators, and, if necessary, warned and ejected them.

The sun were giving away 500 tickets from what I was told by a Mail on Sunday journalist, I would not know, I do not read the sun, I find it hard to believe the date printed in that paper.

The part I had to laugh at most was the line of people they had to corral into a line to make it look busy on the walk outs and not one player wanted to shake hands or high five anybody.

I like this bit; "Hearn told The Sun: “Just like cricket has evolved into a new game with Twenty20, snooker is evolving into Power Snooker – but it is not attempting to take over from the traditional version."

When Power Snooker first came out they were hyping that it was going to take over from real snooker. And it was a "revolution". They got Ronnie O'Sullivan up to say he thought it was better than going to The Crucible.

Oh, I have no doubt he was paid.

Of course, I'm not sure it was quite what Hearn had in mind when he called The Crucible "boring" in a press conference.

But yeah, I don't think anybody was actually under the impression this was the future of snooker. It was publicity.
