I'm a conventional 9.5 man myself.
Tried the magnetic holders in my early days and really couldn't get on with it. I'm a chalk on the table man to be honest which is a bit of a faux pas. I've tried the leather pouch also and that's fine to use. I'd suggest that over the magnetic one any day of the week.

I couldn't get on with it as it felt foreign in my hand and the constant clicking really wound me up. My pal Steve has had one for as long as he's been playing and swears by it's usefulness... I remain unconvinced.

It would depend on the ferrule size of your cue? Or am I missing something..?

Jake:
I hope you have a ferrule size that is LESS than 9mm, otherwise you're not going to be able to use the tips and it's always useful to order tips slightly larger than your ferrule so there's a bit of room for error when you're re-tipping.
On the magnetic chalk holder they are not a bad idea but there are two problems with them. Number one is that bothersome 'click' you will generate when your opponent is at the table and you decide to chalk up and the other is sometimes you knock the chalk off when leaning far over the table and you will either maybe foul another ball or else have to go looking under a dark table for you lost chalk.
I have seen referees warn players about generating the clicks when their opponent is in play.
I used a magnetic one for years and have about 3 or 4 kicking around here somewhere but I've since gone to a pouch which I place over my left hip (I'm right-handed and chalk left-handed though) and I never lose the chalk and can't generate that annoying 'click'.
You can get a really nice pouch almost anywhere although the ones Aurora sells are good leather and not expensive

i used a magnetic one for a while until i lost it. Some club members took the **** out of me because of the clicking so i wrapped the metal in tape, and then it clicked no more!
Now i have a pouch but some of my crafty teammates steal the chalk sometimes because i wear it slightly behind my right hip.

I use a chalk pouch because I don't want to ruin my trousers. Very practical stuff, these chalk pouches and clips.

^ yep, I purposely return the opponent's chalk back to them, either when I am referee or player ;)
I have mine in my back pocket of my jeans, have done for years. As has been said, it is what you get used to.
