Can't get over the size of Peter Ebdons tip! It's like a UFO has landed ontop of it! Lol

His tip fell off, so he borrowed the one from the half butt!!

I'm sure I read somewhere before that it's an 11mm tip on a 9mm ferrule. He's played with that style of over sized tip for a number of years.

True, and he's not the only one.
Peter Bullen, the Belgian Champion, and some of the other guys in the club (including me) play with the same "mushroom" tip.
Really nice.

What could be the advantage of this? If one wants, why not simply play with 11mm cue?
I imagine shaping the tip like that to fit perfectly (if you could call it that) would require almost machine like precision.

An 11mm cue will have a very thick taper, which most people wouldn't like, so using a more normal 9.5 ish gives a nice feel, then stick a bigger tip on it. Ian McCulloch uses a similar thing, and when i saw his cue he didn't seem to have bothered to even attempt to trim the tip to meet the ferrule, just a massive overhang alround

Ive a mannock with a 10.5 tip and coming from a 9.5 its very hard, im missing shots all over the place that im knocking in with the 9.5. I always thought using a bigger tip made things a bit easier as you're less likely to put side on the ball. Tapers not too bad on the cue, just suprised that it wasnt an instant transition seeing as the smaller tip you've to be more accurate on your shot with regards as to centre ball striking. Finding it very hard to screw the ball as well.

Is it legal to use a pool cue in a professional snooker match?

Should be, Steve Mizerak used one against Steve Davis years ago, was only an exhibition but I don't think there's any kind of rule that would disallow an American pool cue being used.

I find the opposite! Cant do under 9.75 and even then i need quite a large tip on there. Any new cue i get will be 10mm.
