seems a good offer, especially for a busy club of players who also watch the game too (as some folk like to play but dont watch too much), as hed be known to most, and has quite a good style of play which helps in exos

also, good to see this in the deal:-

If Ricky does not hit 1 century on the Night, we will donate £200.00 of the fee to The Paul Hunter Foundation

ok, he will probably hit one on almost every exhibition, but doubtful at every exhibition, so good to see him nominating a more than worthy charity to benefit.

its sad that a professional snooker player has to do that - in golf or tennis there is no way!!!

its sad that a professional snooker player has to do that - in golf or tennis there is no way!!! Yes I agree ,is sad ,but is the right thing to do .In my opinion the main problem is the share of prize money sometime the prize of last 32 or 48 don't cover travel&hotel costs..only 64 players gain money in every ranking event.Other consecuence the oversea's players fresh-coming in the main tour have serious material problems to "survive" in Britain

Seems like Ricky the item wasn't a successful business concept. Will they try this again?

Well, the bidding ended and he got ZERO bids! Sums it up me thinks!!

I got more bids for my snooker dvd's! :D

I actually think selling autographs or DVD of his would have been a more profitable choice. Do you believe any of the players sell their own items sometimes? E.g. very rare signature of XY on beer stained shirt collar 1989 and stuff like that?

I am sure White got a dozen of the latter! I bet hes saving it for his pension scheme!

Well, the BBQ is waiting, so I am off for a slurp as well, as this is reckoned to be the last nice day!! (in May).

Just thought i'd bring this back to the top just to clear up a point or 2 made. I actually put this on ebay. I help to look after Ricky's calender and as most people know, there is usually very little activity in the Summer but this year there is a lot going on, shanghai, thai open, german open, english open plus the world series pro am's to mention but a few so we thought it would be good to try for a couple of mid summer exhibitions/matches to keep in shape.

Ricky did 2 exhibitions for me in April and they were outstanding and not too expensive at £500.00. He did hit tonnes in both exhibitions.

Its very difficult to make people aware that you are available for exhibition but we did get 1 sucessful enquiry albeit, it did not go through ebay and somebody has been in touch via his own website www.rickywalden.co.uk about going to Israel which is good.

Seriously, if any club had 12 players who would like to play an up and coming pro who I have to say we have high expectations for then Ricky would be a good booking.

If the auction had started at a penny - lots of people would have been interested - bound to have got to around £300-£400.

you could have a point there but its too much of a risk. Would need to get close to the figure of £500 for the night. My telephone numbers are on the ad and if someone got close then we could probably put something on.

As for the Israel trip, we are just waiting on the Israel Snooker & Pool association to come back to us.

Out of interest why do you have to have close to £500. Sounds a bit similar to Naomi Cambell - although she doesn't get out of bed for the less than ~ £50,000.

I reccomend starting the auction again from a penny - put it up for 10 days and the word will get around clubs that they could get a bargain. Might generate some more interest.

He is asking for £ 500 because that is easily what the lad is worth. The Club will be making money so why shouldn't Ricky ?

Jesus there's some dumb questions asked on here at times...

haha no1 bothered making a bid! 600 odd quid is scandolous for a hardly well known player! they whole idea of the starting bid at 500 was wrong! he shud lower the price and then alot more interest will be generated!

Thanks for that Gomh. Not many people will buy a snooker exhibition on ebay. Until Ricky breaks into the 32 then people would not pay big money for the lad. I have used him myself in 4 exhibitions at my local clubs and he played 12 frames each time, he's hit 3 tonnes, 3 tonnes, 3 tonnes and in the latest 1 he only hit 1 tonne but he did hit about 5 or 6 high 80/90's. He came close to his biggest win last year after leading Ronnie 8-7 in the UK losing 9 - 8. That was no fluke, he is frightening when he is on his game and can compete with the top players. The ad on ebay is to make people aware that during this season, they could hold a top quality exhibition in their club at a reasonable price. I have been involved in organising various exhibitions for different people over the last 12 months and the lowest one apart from Ricky was a grand and it didn't even come close to the standard.

It doesn't bother me if I keep re-advertising the exhibition on ebay because as soon as the season kicks off and Ricky hopefully (fingers crossed) progresses people will remember that he does do exhibitions and he may still come at an affordable price.

imy, if there is no bids, it doesn't matter. The exhibition is not on ebay to be scandalous in any way. It is to make people aware that an exhibition can be put on at a reasonable figure. In no way is it being greedy and every time it costs money to advertise.

But from the 1st time it was advertised there has been an enquiry and also there is a possibility he could give some coaching to some youngsters from another enquiry. It was worth putting the ad on for that alone.

I wouldn't worry about replying to any imbecilic answers, mate. I manage Players myself (I'll introduce myself at Pontins June 26 onwards, if you come down with Ricky).

Most people haven't the foggiest what it entails being in the game and some of the effort that goes in behind the scenes.

And if it makes you feel any better, then I've had one of my Players offer exhibitions on e-Bay not so long ago....and he is in the Top 16. It worked for us, so keep at it, Sir...

GOMH71

PS Isn't Les with Ricky any more ?...

leeroygor
8th June 2007, 08:47 AM
No mate. Les was really good to Ricky but he missed Colin, Colin had been around him since the start and Ricky found it difficult to adjust, so Colin is back looking after him day to day. I'm looking after his web site and helping with his sponsorship / exhibitions and Gary is still coaching. It would be good to see you at Pontins.
