I've attached a couple of pictures of the plates. I'd be interested to hear anything about Mr Lovejoy and his record.

Hi guys,

I'm looking for some information about a billiard table that belongs to my parents- I'm in the process of helping them prepare to move house and have uncovered the table for the first time in probably 10 years or so, so I thought I'd take a few photos and see what I could find out.

Here are the snaps:

After a bit of googling, I understand that this might be quite a nice table, but I'd love to find out a little more about it's history- particularly the roses carved into the legs. We're from Yorkshire, and I wondered if there might be a way to unearth who originally commisioned the table. Also, I dimly remember someone saying there might be something important about the cushions, but that was when I was a child, and I'm not sure if I'm misremembering!

Any help from people much more knowledgeable than me would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Looking for your comments, I presently own a very nice antique 5X10 Snooker Table with Hainsworth Club Cloth & new Northern Rubber. I practice at least 1 to 2 hours a day but building breaks seems to very tough. I am not making excuses but I always seem to find there is not a whole lot to shoot at and there is usually other balls in the way. We always play with 10 reds but still tough. Then I try to run Blacks off the spot and it seems like after about 3 or 4 I am tight on the rail with no way to make shape, again seems to be no room to move around. If I do a line then I am fine, my high is 52 and that again using 10 reds. Looking to play qualifying events in the fall and will be practicing all summer but am I wasting my time on this 5 X 10?

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone could help. Basically I run a snooker club at uni but the two tables we have are in serious need of attention. All the cushions need re-rubbering and both need reclothing. I need to apply for funds for the next academic year from the uni to do this.

Does anyone have any idea how much it would roughly cost?

Also any recommended fitters in the midlands area?

Cheers in advance

Is there a 'better' cloth for pool tables and does the cloth make a big difference to ball spin?

My new neighbour down here in the Malverns is giving me a full sized table, it was repossessed from a millionaire who refused to pay some bills and had been in storage for some time.

Hopefully the major components are all in order but I'm pretty sure it'll need rerubbering and covering, just got to talk another neighbour into letting me have her half of the massive garage we share, insulate etc that and away we go.

I hope to go and see the table soon so will report back as to what it is!

It's been a while since I posted something of interest on the forum table section so thought you may want to see a recent job that I have been on .
An old school mate of mine phoned me up to help dismantle his Snooker table that I put in his stable block around 20 years ago , into his basement , he is building his own extension with a Man cave in the basement for his Full size Snooker table and Guitar collection , so we got the slates in first before the first floor went in , he does nothing in short measures and a to hire crane to help build his three floor extension is £600 per day , so he Bought one ! second hand at £15000 .
Think about it at £500 per day that's just 30 days hire .
he will sell the crane after he has finished with it at the end of the summer.

here is the link with Photo's http://gclbilliards.com/crane-in-sno...nt-near-derby/

I think even the Rocket would have trouble on my table...lolI bought my table last October and it is a fine piece of craftsmanship. *1898 Brunswick Pfister 5x10 Snooker Table. Three weeks ago I had new Northern Rubber installed, I made templates from the originals and made them exact, big mistake. I guess because the old rubber had dried out a little and the corners where firm they did not have a lot of bounce to them so if you where just off a hair they would still go in but now with the new rubber unless you take dead aim you can only dream of making it. I have attached my templates so feel free to print them out and compare to your table or your clubs table. I look forward to your response and suggestions. Terry Davidson sent me the templates he has for the TV pockets so I cannot wait to get home and print them out to compare. His look to be about 1/4" larger for the corners which is an 1/8" off both sides which I would think would make a big difference.
