I've joined your website today in the hopes that some kind soul on here may give me some pointers as to how to sell an antique snooker table? it's early 1800's, 5 slate bed, full size. I would appreciate any help or pointers you could give.

Thanks very much,

As you probably guessed I am new to this forum, about me well, my name is dan I am 19 years old and have quite literally been playing snooker since I was born, at the age of 5 I played on a full size snooker table at the Romford snooker club and stood on a plastic beer crate! Ever since I can remember I have loved the game and have slowly but surely got half decent at it playing great one day and below my average the next. I look forward to talking to you all, and keep potting those balls :)

I'm a comparative newbie to snooker, having only played seriously for about 5 months, i've managed to put away 23 as a highest break. My dream is to have my own table.

found the forum while looking for tips on technique, seems to be plenty of solid advice here, having had a bit of a browse. hopefully i can apply some and become a better player :)

Hi guys, i've finally decided to use my profile and be active on this forum!

Just a little background... I'm only interested in a select few sports and snooker has always been one of them. Been a fan of watching snooker for years and wanted to get involved playing, but lived either too far from a convenient snooker hall or just not had a mate who wants to play. I live in Harrogate now so i'm looking around at the minute for a good place to start playing.

Whilst i'm pretty rubbish at snooker from the times i've played i reckon i've got a little glimmer of natural talent on occasion so hopefully i can learn a bit on a forum like this and become less terrible. :D

Hello there everyone. I am delighted to have joined The Snooker Forum I have been visiting the forum for a number of years as a guest but finally have got round to creating an account. I live in Glasgow and have been a snooker fan since I was 10 years old my favourite player is Alan McManus which is given away in the name! I play snooker on a weekly basis and I'm a member of the Q Club in Glasgow coincidentally the club where my favourite player practices. Being Scottish I'm also a fan of Drew Henry who may ring a bell for some although he has been off the tour for a good few years which is a shame. Anyhow less of that! I look forward to posting on here and would be intrigued if I came across any fellow Alan McManus fans out there.

Hi, my name is Graeme, I'm 32 and currently residing in Epsom, Surrey. Ive been a snooker fan all my life, from playing as a youngster on a home table to playing in snooker halls in my early teens (Rileys in Sutton, Surrey). I was a Jimmy White fan in my youth but now a Ronnie O'Sullivan\Judd Trump fan. Ive been to see a few matches at the Benson and Hedges Masters (when it was called that) previously and hope to go next year to the World finals to see a few matches.

Just recently I decided to join a local social club (West Ewell) with a table to get back into the sport (after paying for the membership fees with the money from my winning bet on Ronnie taking the tournament (I knew he would do it)). Im hoping to get involved in their local league and start playing some matches as well.

Not sure what's going on here. Tried asking a question in another subforum, but the wasn't created and now I can't bring it back. Sure hope it's not gone forever - prolly like a safe guard for spam or whatever.

Anyway, I'm from Denmark and just recently started playing. Been watching for years and actually having played now has only made me love it even more.

Next up: getting my own cue. Probably not going to spend thousands, but I figure anything is better than the standard ones they have at snooker halls. God damnit that coating pisses me off. Pretty clunky feeling having it slide over your bridge.

Thanks for an excellent resource!

I grew up with snooker in my home, now have gone 35 years with only american 9 ball and 8 ball around. I just bought a 6x12 and built a room for it and I'm excited. I think between watching snooker matches and reading the rules OVER and OVER again I'm getting the right mindset but a friend has a "snooker" game on his computer that gives him "ball in hand" on certain situations and I don't remember nor do i read anything regarding "ball in hand" except when the cue goes in off or leaves the table and THEN it's only "ball in hand" within the D. Am I correct?

Thanks in advance,

Hey everyone, i'm from Worthing and am a fairly keen pool player/Snooker follower. Today (after months of not playing i thought i'd take my boy to the local pool hall, after ages spent looking for my cue i find my (now soon to be deceased) wife had stored my cue (18yr old powerglide maestro) beside the bookcase against the radiator pipe, as you can imagine it came out of the case looking like one of Fyfes finest, (a pre EU straightened one at that), well first thing i did this morning was fly to Brighton and buy a new stick and barted the sellers down from £170 to £120, now here is my problem, the new stick thing played quite well (although i miss my trusty) and i was overall quite happy about it until i just joined here and see that none of you rate my new maker, the cue is a Peradon Warrior, i now feel like i have made a big mistake :-(

Hi, I'm a newbie to the site who decided to join after reading the forums about master cue vs phoenix cues. I play to a reasonable standard and am currently looking for a nice but modest 1 piece cue, after some searching i have almost concluded that i will go for a Phoenix Master Cue model M3. The trouble is i have now emailed Craftsman cues 4 times regarding this cue and whether they can supply it in a different weight and length to what they have in stock and still have had no reply. I understood from the other posts that they had an excellent level of service that unfortunately i have not seen. I live on the south coast so visiting isnt really an option, does anyone else sell Phoenix cues? Can anyone offer any advice or should i just go back to looking at Master Cue?

My name's Steve Tuck. I'm from King's Lynn, Norfolk.

I started playing snooker in 1976 at the age of 13 years. I made my first century, a dead 100, in Dec 1979 at the age of 16 yrs and 3 months. I peaked in 1981-82 when I pretty much cleaned up in and around King's Lynn and West Norfolk. I was King's Lynn & District Senior and Junior Champion, King's Lynn Pairs Champion, Wisbech & District Senior and Junior Champion, Norfolk County U18 Champion ('81 & '82), Norfolk U21 Champion, Norfolk County Semi-Finalist and Norfolk County Team Member. I also won the Boston U18's and was R/U to Dean Reynolds in the Crowland U19's.

I was coached by John Barrie (former World Professional Billiards R/U) from Wisbech and Fred Peck in March, Cambs.

I went on to make only 5 centuries, with 109 the highest. It's a modest amount, but at that time, in a snooker backwater like West Norfolk, it wasn't too bad.

I stopped playing in 1983, quite abruptly in fact. This was preciptated by me suddenly getting the "Yips" (over a period of a few weeks) and in the end it was so bad I couldn't hit the cue ball under any circumstances. Also, at the time, I went off to university which proved to be a blessed distraction and quite simply, I've never played the game again.

Which brings me to now... after about 30 years, I'm looking to start playing again. Currently, I work away from my family home during the week, staying in Louth, Lincs and so I have some spare time in the evenings, Mon - Thurs. I've just joined the Town & Country Club in the town, I've ordered some snooker specs and I'm in the process of searching for a new cue, probably a JP at this moment in time. With a history of the "Yips", I thought a fresh start would be best, so I plan to leave my old cue from my teenage years firmly in it's case.

Hi guys :)

Normally it is Snooker players converting to 8ball or 9ball not the other way around!

I am based in Wigston, Leicestershire.

I first picked up a cue in Jan 2010 after one of my early dates with my girlfriend (now wife). However I played American Pool almost exclusively for 3 years 4 months. I've dabbled with snooker on the odd occasion when cueing got lazy at pool and I needed to get back in shape.

Why am I converting to snooker? I fancy something different and if snooker can build up my technique then 9ball can hopefully become easier. I also have ambition to hit a century break.

Snooker is a great game and to use one of Ronnies favourite words, I have the 'buzz' for cuesports once again. 9-ball gets stale after playing it for so long.

Look forward to conversing with some of you :-)
