Standard joint types?

Hello everybody.

I came from the pool planet. There when we purchase a 2 pieces cue, the joint type is always specified and quite standard. For example, wood-to-wood 3/8x10, stainless steel 5/16x14, etc. So you can replace the shaft or put on one of those so-called high tech low deflection shaft. I recently came to the snooker planet and it seems nobody talks about the joint type or screw size of the snooker cues.

Is there some standard types of joint (besides the fact that mostly made of brass)? Say, one manufacture or cue maker uses one type of joint, though different from others. Or there is a single type so you don't talk about it? Or they are all different so it is useless to talk about it?

yeah, they don't obsess over the joint like pool players do. all the joints i've seen are brass to brass, i've never seen anything else. the pin type varies, i don't know of any standard, or seen any official names for them. usually just some generic name like brass semi-quick release. i think joint position is more often talked about. it would be interesting to see how other joint types affect a snooker cue. like a wood to wood or something.

i had a 1 piece cue coverted into a wood to wood joint before.
feels exactly the same as a 1-piece cue.
