  • My 9 yr old needs a new cue

Hi, My son has just turned 9 and needs a new cue he was using the £20 paul hunter Riley cue but has outgrown it now (it comes to his chest) I need to buy him a new one but one that can adapt to his size ie a three piece without it being too big or the extension not fitting the main shaft right, plus i also have limited funds but want to get him a good one as he has coaching and has real potential for the future. Anyone got any advice where i can go and see some cues, i live in croydon surrey and do drive. i'd really like to test a cue before buying him one if poss.

    do john parris do secondhand?

i have up to £100 max to spend as a xmas pressie the cheaper the better being a single mum.

    Thanks.

Hmm good question.. haven't measured him lately as he has grown hes at school now so to compare i am 5'4and half inches tall and he comes to my shoulder.

He has been having coaching for two years so serious enough to want to get him a good one, i could raise some more if i sold some stuff...
He is too talented not to try and get the best for him.
      Thanks...

My advice is to get a cue with a good shaft, never mind the rest of it, although I'm sure he'd say it does matter about the rest of it.

With a really good shaft, you could have a new butt section made for it in years to come, allowing him to have a cue that can grow with him.

I would suggest he needs a cue of maybe 54 - 55...ish inches in length, that way the cue would not play too differently when a new 'longer butt was used in the future.

        Good luck with your search.
