  • "extra cut" on screw shots

    Hi all,

Just want to find out if you guys encounter the same problem I encounter.

Is it just me ? Firstly, whenever i play screw shots I tend to snatch on the shot. I realize if i don`t I tend to hit too soft most of the time. How do you guys Psych yourself not to do that?

Secondly, Whenever you take a screwshot on an angled pot, Does it cut extra? thinner than aimed? (without snatching)

This is what i face. Is it me , my new cue , or is this just normal?

I was previously using an Old , not maintained, abused and much shorter than comfortable cue. but don`t seem to face this problem.

Sold my previous cue because of this problem that gives me great inconsistancy. And now my new cue seems to be giving me this problem again.

Much appreciated for your guys help on this.

    I hope I was clear.

What i really want to ask is, does playing a screw shot on a angled pot, cut extra?

when u want to stun a very deep screw long shots, i think the most important things is your tips, the way how u grip your cue correctly, cue action and your firm bridge, sorry correct me if i'm wrong, some one will explain more better than me, good luck and have a nice game

Yeah, that was a great video, hopefully watching it will help people learn, myself included. I'm doing terrible right now, and I can never screw back too far, so I need to learn how to do this better as well.
I just really need to get a smooth cue action and then to remember the basics, head still and cue low.

Hey again man, i`m not sure if it`s the right cue. Not feeling as comfortable with it as to my over-shortened cue. Feels nice , just not playing right (might be me. giving myself 5 more sessions to gauge). Using O`min. Had a friend went down to Thailand and had one done on behalf.

Does anyone get extra cut while taking an angled shot at deep screw?

The key to playing any screw shot is to hit through the cue ball.

Aim just below centre on the white and follow through with the cue.

The speed at which the cue accelerates as it goes through the white will determine how far the white will come back.

This applies to shots from any angle.

The important things are timing ,hit the white where you aim and cue straight all the way.
Most people can hit the white where they aim but cue slightly across because of different reasons(stance, sightning or movement).

I.o.w if your line up is not spot on you can cue straight(or think you do)but in fact you cue straight across!
