how do you tell the difference between maple and pearwood i have some cues and i been told 2 of them are pearwood im not 2 sure about them also i have a maple Burwat Champion cue one went on ebay a couple of months ago the front splice was different to my one is one more common than the other gary

in the case of straight pearwood its very difficult to tell but in the cues you mention the wood would be steamed pearwood and it has a pinkish tinge compared with maple. the picture is a modern steamed pearwood cue but you get the idea
