  • Snake oil on ebay ?

There are a few "goodies" to be had on the 'bay... a tubular bit of cloth claiming to smooth the cue, along with bottles of stuff that makes it slick, and tubs of special wax...

Are these of ANY use, or just snake oil ?

    Thanks

first too are using abrasives - same as we do with wire wool basically - waxes are fine but why not make your own?

take raw linseed oil put it in a glass bowl inside a saucepan and heat gently as you would to melt chocolate then as it heats add pure beeswax and combine the two together, allow to cool you should have the same sort of thing!

about 50-50 for a paste - but if you don't like the texture you can always reheat and add move liquid for smoother or more wax for thicker.

Could you please elloborate on how you put the oil on the cue?

I know I sound stupid, but I want to keep my cue in good nick!

you would then have a waxy paste - take a lump the size of a large pea and rub it into cue the heat from your hands should make it soften enough then buff off with a soft cloth.

So you leave the mixture to cool down for 10mins?

And why do you have to use your hands to rub it in? Not use a cloth?

you could use a cloth - but on my own cue i like to feel what i am doing.
