  • McManus new cue

Alan McManus has bit the bullet and got a new cue. It is a 1 piece parris ultimate with maple shaft and rosewood butt, made to the same spec and taper as his trusty old cue. He tells me he feels very good with it. Might be a better season for him. Good luck for the new season Alan.

Great, but actually now hardly any snooker going on, might be another explanation

Anyway, I believe this season could be better for Alan. He can't play much worse than in the previous one!

Was his old cue broken, why did he change to a cue that was built to the exact spec of his old cue?

Alan's old cue was a bit tired and had been under the cue makers scalpel several times, so he thought it better to just start again and as he liked the spec of his old cue then there was no reason to change that.

I think we all know players will change cues when things are'nt going so well and are seeking a bit of a mental (or sometimes physical) boost.

It's no secret he's been struggling to find any level of consistency over recent years, so anything which can offer a lift in any department can't do a lot of harm can it.

He's a class player and a fabulous competitor, so good luck to him, hopefully the cue change will do him some good.

good luck to him but i suspect withing a season he will be back to the old cue - it is not why he has been struggling.

As if a new cue would make any difference.
I saw that going differently in my mind
