Cutting tips. Need advice

this is not one of those "i need to learn how to cut tips" threads.
i know how to cut tips

using mike's video and adr147 tip guide, i have managed to cut my tip to a |____| one

i've been seeing some people's tips. and they have cut it to a \___/ shape, and still flushed to the ferrule. i am watching the ding vs higgins match. and ding's tip looks exactly like that too.

how do you do that?

Just sand the edge of the tis after you cut it if you want it like that?

i tried that. didnt work as well as i had hoped.

long ago. i had my tip fitted by someone in a shop. he managed to do it by cutting, not sanding.

by using a much whippy blade pen knife? and perhaps use a tip bigger than your ferrule size? thats hw i cut my tip into that shape.

Surely you just angle the blade slightly inwards?
Would be more difficult to get it right than going straight down though

Use a tip edger (looks like a big pencil sharpener) - here's a link: http://www.ukpool.com/products/details/530.html

It's a useful tool if you don't have a craft knife or suchlike, and if you want your tip to be conical, then this is the bee's knees.

Personally for my preference, I dun really find the \__/ conical shape tip gonna play better then the normal |__| shape tip.

But like I said, it my preference and there might be alternative views about it.
Maybe some better players can enlighten us if it does make any difference in term of playabilty.
