    hi
    when shaping your tip is it worth puting masking tape over the FERRULE to protect it a bit from the tool you are using to shape it ?

      you should be using downwards strokes with the tool only, not around the sides, so you can't really damage the ferrule

        There is no need to put tape around your ferrule when doming your tip. only when you are glueing a new tip on should you cover the ferrule incase any glue gets on it.
        Not played for 3 years and itching for a game....11-3-2017.

              way the tip is made

              upward strokes will seperate any layers or pull the tip apart downward strokes will just take off material

                cool thanks ill just have to learn to be careful when shaping the tip so not to scratch the ferrule

                  The downward motion won't ruin the layers, and as well won't touch the ferrule part
