nuthing wrong with getting a snooker cue and a pool cue. HEAPS of people do.

i play pool, and snooker with 1 cue, so i had my cue custom made at 9.2 mm. a lot of people say my cue (16.3 ounces) is too light for snooker, but they clearly hav never seen me play. works fine.

id probably reccomend getting a seperate snooker cue, if your pool cue is a bit whippy. stick to standard specs i guess. i personally like small tips so i also specified to have my shaft to be a bit stiffer, for play on a snooker table.

I currently use a pro granite tip. they can be purchased from ADR147 (his ebay shop) or Stu (greenbaize.com) who makes them. theyre much firmer than a elk. they are a single pressed tip so you can put them on the same way you do an elk, and trim it down then sand it. works great even when you trim it down

I'll buy you a pint if you do

Ive not destroyed one and ive killed a few Talisman tips on my break off in the past

I play with an 8.5mm, but break with a 10mm. Both kitted out with granite tips.

sounding like a challenge 2 me :P im gunna go 2 a few blackball tour events this year so if they got the speed gun there ill have a go as i havnt met any1 in my area who has anything on my break power wise lol

but when im breaking in a match i take alot off it as for me they seem to give me a better split as when i hammer it alot of balls seem to sit on the rails and not in open play :P

What position are you breaking from? And where are you hitting the cue ball? And into what ball of the pack?

well depends on table size to where i place the white but on a typical supreme prince 7 footer then 2-3 inches to the left of middle and 2-3 inches closer 2 the cushion i cue off the rail i sit up a lil on the shot follow through with my arm and throw my hip into it if im going all out looks abit daft like happy gilmore or summert haha:P

dont see why the tip wont last :P unless it wasnt fitted properly =]

i hav total faith in mine

my mate does the biggest break ive ever seen for english 8 ball. he throws his whole body into the shot, pots 5+ balls quite regularly. potted the 8 twice tho. 1 in 5 breaks sends the white ball jumping, sometimes noff the table. small guy too, abt 5'5". =D

yeah well with uk 8 ball its all about speed not so much power and ye if im going all out i send everthing into the shot i even run into the table pritty much lol but like i said match play i take alot off it so i have a consistent break but still its got alot more in it then most players infact nearly all players in my area lol

oh and does any1 know the speed pool world record cuz ive done it in 36 seconds potted 7 balls off the break :P

yeh i agree. you dont need a lot to spread the balls, speed or a consistent hit where your in control of the white is always better.

my mate did a pot out in about 27 seconds. crazy player tho. he won a 10k comp the other night (sunday) against another australian, ron kelly, who has made top 16 in the world singles, on a few occasions. my mates number 1 player in australia (atm) so hes pretty good :P he breaks, then goes "wanna see a potout in under 30 seconds?" and just goes for it. but 36 seconds.. damn. you must b a freak at 8 ball too

                            Just been talking about this.
                            I've gone back to elk.
The Buffalo diamonds are ok but didn't last me long.
Pro Granite you say hmm never seen them.

Tried Talisman felt bit odd then changed cue and never tried again. Might try another lam tip again.

                            I hate to change tip.

I got a cue that was 9.25 and 16.25oz to play both. Just saying I had bit more weight added because felt light for snooker but not sure I should have now as don't play much snooker.

I've said this before to: We should keep more pool threads going on here!
