  • Buying the right snooker balls

    Hi there,

I need some advice regarding the purchase of a set of snooker balls. I have recently bought a cheap set online for £30 but they seem a lot different to the balls use in the local club. The club balls are Aramith i think, so they have a nicer finish and they weigh a little heavier, thus playing slightly differently to the ones i have bought. This of course may not be just the balls but the table, or a combination of things

So, i would like to know weather to get the best out of my practice i should remain playing with the cheap set of balls, or weather to set them aside for a decent set.

    Thank you.

Like many on here, I own a set of Aramith Tourament Champion balls.
I must say, these balls are excellent.
They react superb, you dont seem to need to hit them as hard, which makes potting balls easier. I dont seem to get any kicks from them.
All round they are definitely the best I have ever used, and I would recommend them to anyone who dont mind spending the £95+ to get them
    Highest Match Break - 77
    Highest Practice Break - 101, 106, 111
    Highest Breaks of 2010 - 76-65-62-61-60-60-59-57

Hi Stroodle Dozens of posts here regarding snooker balls. Use the search thread on "Aramith" and you'll find loads of info. In a nutshell if you are a serious player looking to get better then the Aramith Tournament Champion are the balls you need to be playing with. They retail for around £100 +/- 10% and are the ones the pros play with. They weigh in at around 142g each. If you're a very average player just playing for fun and want a nice shiney set of balls to play with then the Aramith Premier may be good enough. They're about half the cost of the TC ones and weigh in at about 128g.

Just ordered Aramith Tournament balls + peradon box from John Parrott's website. 154 quid inc shipping to Australia which I think is a really good deal.
