  • Pocket Reducers

I have seen on ebay that someone is selling pocket reducers
Has anyone ever tried these as a way of improving accuracy?
Anyone have any feedback as to what they are like?
Its only £40, but id rather not waste it if they are really no good.

Any experience of these would be good to know about.
    cheers

Yeah.. hope there is someone to share with us.. Not too sure if this will work.
But lately the gravity cue has caught my attention. Maybe will have one later, to help me with my game.

I haven't but they look well tacky to me!
Also, it looks like they are for pool tables which have a straight cut (or wedge) to the pocket, whereas snooker tables are curved, so they might not work too well for snooker.

same reason i have a dartboard with 1/2 size doubles and trebles, when ur aiming at smaller targets, ur accuracy improves. when u start playing with normal size targets again the game becomes a hell of a lot easier.
apart from anything, clubs cut their pockets in a way so that they are forgiving, they want u to pot balls!

                    Perfectly put whufcarl...
thanks for your input...in theory if you are making 60 or 70 breaks with the pocket reducers then surely when removed then it should be eisier to pot in a larger pocket !

Luckily my clubs pockets are rediculously tight so much so people actually complain it's almost impossible to pot balls in them haha, it's ok though I manage to regularly knock in thirty and early forties breaks but they are suupidly tight.. When I move onto other clubs tables I have no problems knocking in fifties and sixties... Lol so it kinda helps
what a frustrating, yet addictive game this is....

problem is it only last about 5 minutes with me.
When going from a tough to eas table its all soooo easy...then I miss a couple, the pockets don't seem that big anymore.
I must admit tho that I had my cushions redone and thus pockets tightened a couple of months back and it makes the game far more enjoyable cos you know when they go in that they would pretty much have gone in on any table. Rather than thinking "I got away with that one" all the time.
If I were you I wouldn't waste 40 quid on this tat tho. Its expensive but you could ask the club to have the cushions redone with tighter pockets. A cheaper alternative would be to wedge a small strip of softish rubber (like a car tyre) about 3-4mm thick 1cm wide and 5cm long, and place it between the wood of the cushion and the rubber. This has the effect of tightening the pockets. You'd still need a pro or capable DIYer to do this, and its permenant, but it means you wouldn't have to buy a full set of northern rubber. I tried this before having the cushions totally redone, and it worked fine, but obviously not as nice as new cushions.

i am trying to convince the club owner to have table 1 as a match table anyway, faster cloth, tighter pockets, charge more...
that way only serious players will play on it and it wont get messed up.
i have a club in dartford i can go to where the table is exactly how i want it, an ice rink with nun's a-hole pockets, making a 50 on there feels great, where as my local club - "its just another 50"
