  • Hand Made Snooker Cue Case... Views Please :)

Hey guys, as part of my A-level Technology and Design coursework, I have made a 2 piece snooker cue case, and laid it with Oak and Teak veneer. The interior is made from blue baize, and has two chalk holder pieces. Also, Chrome latches, handle and chrome butterfly hinges. Please find below some pictures of my finished project!

P.S I would like your views on the case (whether you like it or not, strengths etc, and approxiamtely how much cases like this could be sold for?)

P.P.S, I know the pictures are abit blury, but my camera is no good lol.

    Thanks
    Chris

Heres a couple of wooden cases, one sold for a measly 99p, and the other didnt sell first time around. I personally quite like them but have no need for one, maybe because they are heavier than others that may put people off ???

Very good attempt. Alot better than i could have done. Am i correct in saying it's made out of ply wood though, with the veneers over the top? It just looks like you can still see the ply in picture 3 when the case is open. I may be wrong if it is the ply that i see though, maybe just a quick trim of veneer over edges and it should come up tops. Good work though.

Yea it is ply, my college is on a tight budget lol, and i left it like that as i just tarnished the edges, as im my coursework i said i was only covering the outside :P

You need to study some photography too.

I like the case a lot.. been looking for it for sometime. Over here, they sell it quite expensive and on ebay they won't ship to Malaysia.

Well for your first attempt its good . Keep at it and experiment i,m sure you,ll be a master in the end . Keep your eye out for scrap wood . Pheraps when you have it off to a t you can start covering them .

Ten times better than i could do .

i made one a while back i bought some hard wood from the wood yard had them cut it to size 59" long 3" wide each one 20mm deep (2 pieces) but used a router to mill out the middle of both pieces and to round the outside edges off this way you can keep the case quite slender and you dont have to start jointing the ends plus theres no glue/screws involved just hinges and clasps.

Don't know about storing your cue in it but you would sure save a few dollars on your coffin when you croak it:snooker:

Long term fan of wooden cases.
Got this one off ebay about a year ago for around 30 quid. Given it some love and decided to get it signed by any snooker players I might, got Waldo and Davis so far

I don't know if anyone has ever bought one, but if you up your budget and buy some solid exotic woods instead of using plywood then you could try and rival these
Warning: Clicking on the pictures to see the prices might scare anyone who take a liking to them

I found that this was one of the only cue cases that is long enough to handle a 59" cue!!
