  • Hi Guys

    Newbie signing in,

firstly what a great site! Ive just started playing snooker again after many years, when I was at school one of my mates was lucky enough to have a full size table at home and we used to mess around on that.

I have joined my local social club which has 4 tables and play in the local league (the A team won the premier div last season ) bit of a way to go before I will have designs on making the teams

Soaking up the tips and advice on here like a sponge at the moment. I do a lot of clay pigeon shooting and snooker seems to be very similar. Hard focus on the object to be hit and keep the barrels/cue in the periferal vision.

Now just have to spend a lot more time on the baize and work out my angles not to mention all this side, stun, screw business

Not sure Mick just pulling Flames leg . Bought another cue yesterday so i will have to let a few go soon . Which ones i dont know yet probably be my gbl champion , as nice as it is the tip may be just a tad too big .

Thanks for the welcome chaps Already bought a cue so wont be crossing Hotpots palm with silver just yet

Will probably get slated but I bought a riley from argos (yeah I know what you pros think about argos cues ) but it is far better than any of the club cues, number 1 its straight!

I was bedding the tip in for a few hours yesterday, it seems to be mushrooming over a bit, I assume this is normal with a new tip the leather compressing. would you guys leave it like this or sand the edges down with some really fine paper?

Back down the club later this afternoon for another play, quite addictive this chasing balls around a table :snooker:

Personal preference with the tip mucka , personally i like a bit overhanging just like you described , others like them flush . If your serious about the game you gotta have a decent cue mun

Sorry to hijack the intro, what cue did you
get yesterday hotpot you'll soon be like
                          me with too many cues
The difference is at least you don't mind
letting yours go,I really should take a leaf
                          out of your book

I bought a Parris champion off one of the members here . . I,ve got that and an omin coming next week , i,ll be hopefully testing them all out then ,until i get my Dan n Trev . Yes cues are nice to keep but if i dont plan to use any i,ll flog em .

Nice,do you know how long you have got to wait for them
Dans not taking any orders at the moment so he must be
                              busy with yours.
Don't usually go a bundle on jp cues but the one on sale
the other day that Crispian bought looked smart, which is
doubly strange because I don't usually like bright colored
veneers on cues just more natural woods .
