Welcome to TSF. Just too bad you can't put in a 12ft table as there is a bit of a difference when you go to a full sized table.

I hope you are able to get the proper cloth and balls too, as both of them can make a real difference. I've seen a few snooker tables in the States with pool felt on them (some blue even) and believe me the nap on a genuine cloth will make a difference

But at least you will be learning, no matter which way you go. If you have any questions with regards to coaching or rules, just post them here on TSF and you will get plenty of answers (in fact, probably most of any questions you might have will already have been answered, especially in the coaching strings)

Thanks for all the welcomes! I am excited to join the snooker world, but at 57 I won't get very good! Terry Davidson - I am quite sure there is a huge difference with a 6 x 12 English table! I will be visiting my boys this summer and there are a couple of 12' tables in their area, so I will be looking those up. I actually feel lucky to have the room for a 10', along with my 8' pool table. Never thought I would have a chance at that. I am converting a workshop/garage to a "man cave". Going to leave enough room for my 1971 Ranchero and the rest of the 30 x 40 space is all fun!
