Do you need to do the wiring as well .. are you comfortable with that? If not, get an electrician in.. in the meantime you may be able to mount it, depending on how it fixes to the ceiling.

If it has a standard round fixture which screws into the ceiling, with the cables hidden inside then the electrician will need to get at this and you're best to wait for them.

If you have a light with loops or chains to attach it, and exposed wooden beams in the garage then you can just install large hooks in the garage and hook the light up.

A photo of the light fixture points and garage interior ceiling would help

A google for "how to install a light fixture" turns up a number of videos and a DIY page which looks helpful.

    Good luck!

There will be some beams behind the plasterboard somewhere if you can screw it into them it will be much more secure. I am not sure how much weight plain plasterboard can take.

I am not sure how to upload pics .. perhaps you need a certain number of posts or similar before it's enabled.

I suspect you have to upload the images first, from the UserCP somewhere. Then you can insert them with the "[Insert]" link on the right side of the reply box (the one I'm typing into at the moment).
