  • What light bulb to use?

Did a quick search but not discussed before.

I have a light "canopy" and it has 3 bulb holder and look exactly like the one in snooker clubs.

Does it matter what kind of bulbs you put in there? energy saving non energy saving ? high frequency energy saving?

    Which light?

Hi we have canopy's in our club which have one 6ft Flouresecnt tube in them. Although recently i have seen a new alternative to this which would be much better in both brightness and energy saving. They are LED tubes, that replace the Flourescent tube. There is a little rewiring required, as the LED tube uses the existing light fitting. The LED tube does not shine all the way around though! its bulbs are only downward facing. So i'm not sure if the canopy is any longer necessary??? I will be asking our club to switch to these shortly, and i don't see them refusing once they realise how cost effective they are!
    Cheap and Cheerful! 😄

Whatever you do, make sure they are really bright. I know it's obvious but there's nothing worse than dim table lights.

Go for daylight bulbs, ideally about 150W, in energy saving wattage its about 30w so quite cheap to run and last for a good few years. Problem is they are about £6 a bulb so not cheap but the energy saving costs mean they will pay for themselves over a few months of use.

We just upgraded our snooker table light to 12 four foot daylight flouresents @ 34watts per bulb. Who cares about energy cost when it comes to being able to see and getting rid of shadows.
