  • Coaching with Ray Reardon

Just found this footage callled 'Reardon On Snooker' with Clive Everton giving some useful hints and tips which may come in handy for anyone on this forum who is just starting out in the game. The programme may look a little dated as it looks as if it's from the 1970s, but there is still some very useful information to be gathered here.

    Part 1
    Inroduction

    Part 2
    Choosing a cue

    Part 3
    Tipping the cue

    Part 4
    The grip

    Part 5
    Something to try

    Part 6
    Difficult bridges

    Part 7
    Difficult stance

    Part 8
    Using the rest

    Part 9
    Using the spider

    Part 10
    Tip of the week

    Part 11
    Something to try

    Part 12
    Breaking off

    Part 13
    Snookers

    Part14
    The century break

I hope some of you find this helpful..

cant believe how short is cue was, around 56 inches long

for a tall man bit of a shock, today they play with at least 58 inch cues

amazing find spike. LoVING the rectangle method of escaping snookers. I've never thought of it like that. Ray is the man. What a nice bloke.

Great Stuff Spike... What Gems they are... Only watched a couple so far...

Yes the rectangle method of escaping from snookers... I've been banging on about this one for years. I ignorge the cushions (as though they weren't there) and, looking outside of the table just work in 90 degree angles - always been good at escaping from snookers cos I've always done this. To the point where some of my pool playing mates and opponents are scratching their heads when I make an impossible escape. Remember if the path isn't there in the desired rectangle, just skew the rectangle using side and allow for the side effect on the subsequent cushions....

I echo the comments about Ray - what a wonderful and patient man he is. A credit to snooker, and dare I say it, to the human race. Lovely example of a 139 clearance and such authority with which he hits the cue ball. Having not seen him play 20 odd years, it's great to have a permanent reminder of what a great player he was.

              Thank you Spike!

I can remember watching them some years back. It's showing me the private message too. They were pretty good of what I remember. Shame...
