    q school

I'm thinking of competing in the q school, however would like to know whether you have to stay in sheffield for the whole 3 weeks, as a friend of mine has been quoted by the premier inn near the academy £1500.00 for the 3 week stay. This will turn into a very expensive trip on top of the entry money.

Just for information, John Exon has left a pile of entry packs and information leaflets with us at South West Academy when he visited at the weekend.

So if you're passing you can pick up a pack here.

Hello Ryan. The Premier Inn is a nice hotel but there are lots of alternatives. The Etap is close to the Snooker Acadmy and offers cheaper rates and there are rooms which sleep 3.
The EIS and Yorkshire Touris Board websites list other places to stay including Guest Houses and B&Bs. I am currently discussing the possibility of using university Halls of Residence.
Think positive Ryan, if you are a semi-finalist in the first of the three tornaments you've qualified and can return home after 4/5 days. Good Luck

Ryan, you're beginning to sound like my own children. Just tell mum & dad they're investing in your future and you will pay them back from the cheque Barry will give you at the Crucible when you become the World Champion.

If you book in advance for the ETAP you can get it for £18.00 a night - I think that's per person.

have tried that one, think that line is wearing a bit thin now, only consolation is that i have qualified 3 times in the easb q school stage 3 sothey won't have to pay the £300 entrance money.

John, why is it that the official closing date for entries is so early?

Q School was officially announced by our Chairman, Barry Hearn during the World Open in Glasgow last September. I think 6 months between then and the closing date is enough time to decide if this is an opportunity for you as a snooker player. Unlike most other tournaments where there is a finite number of players, we can only estimate the total entry for Q School and therefore the arrangements, draw and format are more difficult to predict. This gives us sufficient time to put all the arrangements in place. It also gives the players more time to prepare for what coud be the most important tournament of their lives.
