  • How?

    Try these two questions:

Q1 With the pink on the edge of one corner pocket and the black on the edge of another, player pots the blue to go 10 points in front. However he does not win the frame. There are no fouls, so how does he lose?

Q2 With only 1 red on the table, compile a 42 clearance without the use of a free ball. How?

AH!! Q1..........player pots the blue to go 10 points in front but the cue ball ends up touching the pink so he has to play away and misses the pot so opponent steps up and pots pink and black!!

Technically you are right on the first one, but not the answer I was looking for; and in the second question, I did say a 42 clearance. Potting the black after a re spot would be a break of 7 and not added to what was scored before.

Q2: 43 left. player 1 pots red. foul and miss on any color. player 2 puts him in again. player 1 pots black-red-black-colors = 42

Q1: blue was a free ball, say counting 4 (brown). then he misses brown and player 2 pots brown-blue-pink-black

I guess the answer DawRef was looking for might be that he pots blue and pink and ... oh hang on, that wouldn't work!

As for the other question, I do know the answer but I'll hold off from posting it for now!

Q1-easy one: 147 left. player 1 opens the pack, moving pink and black close to the pockets. player 2 pots red-green-red-blue =10, misses red. player 1 plays a 131 clearance to win....

The pink is jawed after potting the blue or there are more balls left other than the pink and black. 2nd question not possible is it? Lol.

Question 2 the player was already on a break before getting to the last red.

As far as I can see, both questions have been correctly answered earlier on in this topic.

That would only be 34, not 42

Blue Pink & Black were the only balls on the table.

Oldgit you are correct for Q1; erezpa you are correct for Q2.

Don't get that one...thought you couldn't use a free ball

I dont get the 2nd answer. How can player 1 foul and then player 2 makes him play again for player 1 to pot a black red black then the colours. Maybe i'm just reading it wrong.
