  • Help with playing balls near or on cushions

For some reason I have developed a nervousness with paying when the cue ball ends near the cushion. I generally don't get low enough and just generally aim at the object ball and play a 'quick one'. My team members and regular opponents are beginning to expect me to play the cushion balls as if I am not even trying; that's what it looks like. Miraculously I do sometimes pot the object ball but I dont do anything like address the ball or even feather. It feels and looks awful. Does anyone have this problem or know of a way of resolving this affliction! I think it is a nervous reaction and psychological but there must be a technique (even mental or technical) which can help.

    I hope that you can!

    Cheers

Well you seem to know exactly what your doing wrong.......so just concentrate so much harder on these shots, its best to just roll the balls in as well, so no power shots (unless your Judd Trump of course !)

Whenever I play a shot off the cush I try and keep my back-swing short and my head still. Always helps me.
I often use large words I don't really understand in an attempt to appear more photosynthesis.

Thanks I also found one or two coaching clips on plying from cushions on youtube. I need to go out an do an hours practice. I just almost anticipate that I am going to put in a quick one as I approach the ball near or resting on the cushion and then I do what I am trying not to do!
