  • PTC Events...

I am a little confused about all the Short format PTC events that are now being played on the calendar.

The PTC events are all worth ranking points and are tournaments in themselves.
Does a win at each PTC therfore technically count as a ranking title?

I believe there is a PTC final evnet at the end of season too, is this for the best performers over the season and does this count instead?

I only ask as with so many PTCs a year if they count as ranking titles players like Steve Davies and Stephen Hendry could have there ranking titles chased down very quickly indeed. It would also mean players are winning very low key ranking titles as their is very little to no coverage of these events, it would be like winning the world Championship in the 1960's (noone knew about it). Almost a step backwards in the development of the viewing aspect of the game...?

On the basis they are worth ranking points I can only assume they are technically ranking titles.

You shouldn't really count any stats (centuries, 147's, ranking titles) on PTC events. For example Ronnie could get somewhat near Hendry's century record if he played all 12 PTC and all the other tournaments which is not fair.

Eh? Of course it's fair to count stats. It's a ranking event. you are talking as though Hendry isn't allowed to play in the PTC's. All players are equal. No one has any advantage.

Where you saying the same thing last season when Ronnie hardly played?

PTC Events are not Ranking Titles but they Carry Ranking Points but the PTC Finals won by Murphy last season was Counted as a Ranking Win.

12 PTC Events are Qualifying Rounds For the PTC Final.....Ronnie has won Stage 1 of 12.

in the early 90s Tony Drago,Joe Swail and Troy Shaw won Tournaments with minor Ranking Points...

i think the PTC Works well because it gives everyone focus and a aim for the season....all you got to do is collect points consistently to maintain a high enough Ranking to get Seeding positions in the Major Events.

This Season there will be TV Coverage on Eurosport of PTC 4 and hopefully through streaming or Eurosport more of them will be shown.

Ronnie by winning yesterday got up to 11th Provisional had he decided not to play he would be provisional 18th.

Are all these PTC's on a Monday - Wednesday? They were weekends last time. The reason i ask is that it was common news that Ronnie couldn't commit to Snooker matches on a weekened because of his kids and maybe they have moved it to try and accomodate him.
