  • Modes of tournaments in professional tour(My own view)

    Classic mode:
    -World Championship

In this mode, the structure should be higher standard, i.e. longer competition time, higher prize and more number of frames each round. After the reduction on UK Championship, there's only one tournament qualified - World Championship.

    Normal mode:
    -Australia Open
    -Shanghai Masters
    -UK Championship
    -German Masters
    -Welsh Open
    -China Open

All of them contain the basic structure: 4/5 rounds of qualifying stage, wildcards round(optional), 32 entries of main draw, short/middle length each matches.

    Invitational mode:
    -Wuxi classic
    -The Masters
    -Snooker Shoot Out
    -Premier League
    -Championship League
    -Brazilian Masters
    -World Seniors Championship
    -BTV Cup
    -Scottish Professional Championship
    -Hainan Classic
    -Pink Ribbon Tournament

Each of above tournaments had different formats:
Snooker Shoot Out - One match to win in ten minutes by Top 64(Revision 2)
World Seniors Championship - Competition for seniors only
Premier League - Events for each champion of tournaments and Championship League winner
    etc.

All of them are mainly non-ranking events.

    Modern mode:
    -Snooker World Cup
    -PTC(12 events + Finals)
    -World Open
    -Q School

Also called "International mode". Literally the tournament is opened to every players, whatever professional or amateur. Recently, this mode is growing larger and larger.
