  • Maguire vs O'S - German Masters

    Hi to all,

Just watched the final of the German Masters on FOX and what a final .... it was the best final I have seen for years.

Both played exceptional snooker, in fact, I have never seen Maguire play as well as he did during this tournament. Being a believer O'S is the best player I have ever seen, at no stage did I believe from 6/3 down, he would win 6 of the next 7 frames .... an under achiever 'YES' ..but.. still the greatest player I have ever seen.

Fox down-under does not show the events when they are played, in fact, we do not get to see every tournament played. They obviously do not understand the game is as important here as it is around the world.

Maguire played brilliant, O'S just a bit better.

It was a great final, yes. The best Maguire has ever played? Certainly the best since 2008, but he was probably even better in 2004, particularly at the UK Championship. It was also O'Sullivan's best match in the proper events for a while, and a great fightback from the early onslaught.

I think we've been quite lucky with the finals recently. The first two ranking finals of the season went to a decider, the UK final was superb, extremely high standard, as was Germany. The World Open final was the only one-sided match, and even that had a tremendous performance from one of the players, if nothing else. Last season was similar as well. Long may it continue.

      Hi Odri,

I didn't get to see Maguire win any of his ranking titles, however I did get to see the 2004 WC. Although one sided in both the semi and final, it was the 1st time I had ever seen O'S. Seeing Hendry get beat 17/4 was a sad moment for me and Dott lead 5/0 in the final to go down 18/8. O'S played the best snooker I had ever seen, without doubt an under-achiever, that said, when he's on, it is really a joy to watch.

      Cheers from down-under.

I have to admit that I thought Maguire would win as he was playing so well
I often use large words I don't really understand in an attempt to appear more photosynthesis.
