  • Andy Travis Cue Review

As some of you will know I recently ordered a custom made Andy Travis cue to my specifications. (one piece, 59.5 inch long, 10mm Elk tip, 18.5 oz)

It arrived yesterday. Firstly let me say it was very well packaged in 2 plastic tubes. I asked Andy to send me some pictures of the cue in its various stages (and he happily obliged) of build.

The cue is exactly to the spec I asked for...ebony butt with a single splice of Camphor Burr, with a stiff shaft and personalised name plate.

The minute it was out the packaging I was over the moon, it looks exquisite, and is perfectly balanced.

I went straight down the club to test it out. It felt great from the very first shot, very powerful (especially since my other cue is 1oz heavier but not as powerful)

I potted some outrageous pots within a few minutes...but also missed some absolute sitters (can't blame the cue for that) I can honestly say that I wasn't too sure about having a one piece cue, as I've always had 3/4 cues. But I can say that I won't have ever go back to a 3/4 cue again.

Long story short...I knocked in a few 40+ breaks..but I was playing on my own...but managed a cheeky little 32 against my mate an hour later.

Andy Travis did a bang up job in my cue, and I couldn't be more happy with it..if any of you are thinking of using him to make you a cue I would only say "WTF are you waiting for"?

Here are some photos of my new wand

    UPDATE!!

Today I played 12 frames with my new wand...I had breaks of 32 29 25 24 22 and 20. Now I know these are nothing to write home about, however I've only had my new Andy Travis cue for two days...and then to top it off, in my league game tonight (1frame) I had a cheeky 22 and cleared up green to black for a cheeky 25 winning my match 74-25. I've got my semi final of the handicapped individuals in 3 weeks...hopefully me and the wand will be "One" by then. Thank you Andy Travis.

Jack, it's a completely different "hit" to my Peradon. Just a lot "cleaner hit" if that makes any sense. Got a 5 man against the Atack tonight...so hoping to let rip with it later. Just off down the club now to get it "warmed up" for later.

My fave design, burr over black ebony, simple but very smart. Andy has done it well, looks a cracking cue.

Harry...it took him just over a week from me emailing him the spec and design to having the CityLink van deliver it yesterday...I'd say about 10 days all in....(just a fraction quicker than ordering one from JP ) Trust me you won't be disappointed with his handy work...all the lads in the club love it...and most of them have got JP's cues!

Itx, the finish is lovely...smooth and yet you can feel the grain too...I'm not too sure..however I think he linseed oiled it before shipping it to me...I gave it a rub down with a clean dry cloth and it feels absolutely perfect to me. I'm sure that he will finish it to your own spec...I didn't specify a finish...so that's probably why mine was oiled. Hope this helps you
