  • Cramping Pain In Calf - think it's time to see a coach!

Just had a really good practice down my local club. Having been away from the table and not hit a ball in anger for a couple of months due to work it was nice to remember that I can actually pot a ball from time to time!!

However, my biggest issue was that my right calf was starting to cramp up, and while it never actually fully cramped, the the sharp pain that you get as the muscle starts to tense up was unsurprisingly, really putting me off mentally. Now I'm sure it's down to stance. As a right hander, it's my straight leg that was having the issue, which makes me think that my balance isn't right and is causing me to leave too much weight on it? But a few futile attempts to change position of feet/weight had no effect.

I thought I'd see what reasons TSF had for why it's happening and what I can do to try and solve it? I think it'll probably need some time with a coach to actually look at my stance and suggest changes/improvements, so if anyone know of a good coach that covers West Berkshire let me know.

Ha ha, I hope you're not suggesting squats between shots! That would get some funny looks.

I row every afternoon and either cycle or run every morning so I hope my muscles know how to work. I'm sure it's stance related as it's never happened before but I've just come back after a few months break due to work, so I guess I'm standing slightly differently and that's causing it.

Cool, do you travel or would I need to come to you? Either way it's not a million miles but I think I need to get some professional help to sort this problem (and no doubt a heck of a lot more you'll find!!)
