    Concentration and focus

Mentality plays a strong role in a players game if you believe you will succee then you will (providing you are a decent player) but as i like to say: "believe=achieve"

I address focus and concentration and getting into the zone on some writeups I have previously done. Have a look at http://snookerdelight.com/snooker-ar...ection-part-1/. Do read all 3.

What coaches will typically tell you is that you need to focus on technique, cueing, and cue action. That helps you clear you mind to the task at hand. I also like to add in break building, ball positioning, and advanced planning as an additional focus points that prevents my mind from wandering to things off the table. It's hard, however, when you know that the sounds and sights are there but you just have to keep at it and eventually, it won't bother you as much any more. Snooker requires deep focus and concentration and by the very nature of the game, it shouldn't be that difficult to get focused if you are doing the right things. What's your high break? Have you had pro coaching on mechanics? Do you compete in pressure situations often? Do you practice? Is your opponent moving on your shot or talking when you are at the table?

If you can't manage the environment or you don't have good opponents, consider finding a new practice or match partner or at least spending some time away from your regular club.

        Thank you for your replies.
Longbomber, my highest break since coming back to snooker has been 51 which was 3 reds, 3 blacks and all the colours.
Apart from that it's been a couple of 30's and 20's.
I have never received pro coaching . I dont drive and can't find a coach in Luton.

I am always trying to play in pressure situations. I have league snooker on a Tuesday, a summer league on Thursday and weekly competitions at my club on Sundays.

I try and practice in between these days normally for 2-3 hours at a time.

Maybe this is just me or maybe this is just really silly but if I miss a shot in practice and replace it a couple of times and miss I seem to feel like everyone is watching and I get a bit hot underthe collar

I feel I am in my head a lot at the table and it's almost a mental block. Almost embarrassed to miss shots... Silly as it sounds to me I can't seem to get past it.....
