  • Straight / Bent Bridge Arm ?

    Hey Guys, Coaches

Just a quick question regards the placement of your bridgearm.....

I just noticed thanks to a friend my arm looks very straight, now is this good, bad, personal choice?

Sorry that the pictures are ridiculously big but i took them from a Instagram link

Try taking a photo with you hand on the table and no rail in the way. I prefer a slightly bent bridge arm, no much though, maybe 10 degrees or so but it should be sufficient so you can get some weight on the forearm along with the bridge itself.

When you get down into the address position try 'pushing' your right elbow into the bed of the table as this will add a lot to the stability on the shot.

Although there's nothing really wrong with a straight bridge arm as advocated by Joe Davis years ago, most of the modern players and coaches do have the bridge arm very slightly bent for added stability.
