  • Maria eyes top spot in Swindon

IT COULD be all change at the top when the women’s snooker circuit descends on Swindon on Saturday.

World number two Maria Catalano has been installed as favourite to claim her first UK Championship, the third leg of seven on the 2012/13 World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association tour at Jesters Snooker Hall.

Catalano, still smarting from a 3-0 defeat by Hong Kong’s Ng On Yee in the final of the Northern Championship in September, could snatch the number one spot from the absent Reanne Evans.

Two young stars to watch out for are Derby’s England international Hannah Jones, 16, and 12-year-old Jasmine Bolsover, from Woking.

The draw will take place at the venue at 9.15am with play starting at 10am

It seems that the WLBSA is still in the embarrassed status.

Is this being televised at all?

I do hope the WLBSA can improve the level of play and give women a
chance to be recognized as it only goes to bring more exposure to the
game of snooker in my opinion.

No. The WLBSA circuit is not televised.

Don't quite understand that. Women can enter for any event. They can also enter the WLBSA events, men can't.
