  • Grip hand hitting rib and resulting jolt

When I follow through I sometimes find my grip hand thumb hits lower (not a lot)on my rib rather than higher in the region of the chest this sometimes results with a small jolt to the cue What am I doing wrong ?

It sounds like youre stance is too crouuched or upright . Put your back leg further back this will lower your back and flatten your stance .

Either what hotpot says or else you're dropping your elbow too much. The cue shouldn't drop down when the elbow is dropped but some players drop too much

only my thoughts but who cares? surely the cueball has long gone by the time your grip hand hits your chest and the cue is going to wobble wherever your hand makes contact with your chest ...

I assume you're talking about after hitting the white ... if it's before hitting the white, your body is too close and too straight to the cue - assuming you are right handed, try moving your hips a bit left and rotating them a bit clockwise so you're cueing a bit more across your torso (upper body) rather than cue close to your hip and cueing up your body ...

also, try to deliver the cue like an arrow ... dead straight as you feathered ... no left/right movement or up/down movement, head still and smooth ...

the goal is to deliver the cue well, it doesn't matter if you get the pot or position ... concentrate on your line of aim and delivering the cue well and pots and positions will take care of themselves ...

A very valid point ! the cueball is long gone by the time it hits the chest I was just after that beautiful poker straight follow through AFTER the shot. Shaun Murphy springS to mind.
