  • Betfair Masters Prize Money Increase

    http://www.worldsnooker.com/page/New...047834,00.html

They have added an £100k to the total prize fund .

1st round losers are to get £12,500.00

What great prize money for an invitational event .

A definite incentive to get into the top 16 .....if one was needed .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

That plus the 1st round loser money at the WC's and 1 of the big Chinese events means that even though everyone is now in Round 1 for most of the events, top 16 players are still guaranteed about £30-35k before they hit a ball all season from these 3 events.

Next year, the difference between No.16 and No.17 on the rankings will be H U G E !!!!!

How are they going to workout the Top 16 for next season ? Does everyone start from zero ?

Or are the Top 16 effectively being there to be shot down ? i.e If a player has a decent couple of tournaments , he will rise up the rankings quicker ?

      So many questions !

The money list they are running just now in parallel to the official rankings list will take over in 2014/15.

Based on the money up for grabs, I reckon anyone who wins a major event (UK, World or the big Chinese event) will go straight in to the top 16 regardless of their position before the event.

This is great news and I am sure will affect further annoucements for the upcoming new season.
I still do think that the differences between the prize levels should not be greater than 100% (i.e double) and personally should be less than 100%.
runner up - increased by 5k to 90k, winner increased by 25k to 200k
so the difference if now greater than double, hmm
I just prefer to see more evenly balanced differentials.
Not just in this event but across the board.
          Up the TSF! :snooker:
