  • Purchasing a Cue and Having It Shipped Here To The Colonies (US)

I moved to Knoxville, TN USA for work, a few months back and was delighted to find almost within walking distance to my home a classic pool room with the only 75+ year old snooker tables within 200 miles. Having grown up with an Irish father (Last of the Ellis Island babies in 1919---Da was 50 when I was born!) I was raised in New Jersey on snooker and 3 Cushion Carom in the 'Irish social clubs'. Only when I reached high school did I learn about 8 and 9 ball. Largely American games that I enjoy and loathe at the same time.

    Anyway, back to our story...

I have played an old Meucci 84-4 since I bought it new from Bob Meucci when he was building them out of his little shop. I find it is easy to find a 12-13mm Carom cue(likely from Bob again...) but a decent entry Snooker cue is limited to eBay (From Canada and Thailand).
I see several good Peradon and old Parris cues daily on eBay UK but they all limit to shipping within the UK.
The Peradon folks sent me a catalog and their US retailers info, who, sadly only carries Riley's and similar quality cues.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can find a cue/case (9mm or under) that someone might actually SHIP to me here in the US???

    REALLY enjoying the forum!!!!

    Alll the best

    Jim
    Cheers from the Colonies

      welcome to TSF
For snooker the "usual" spec is around the 9.5mm ferrule, under 9mm you can start applying unwanted side to the cue ball.
There are many makers and suppliers that will ship to US.
What is your budget? Do you know what you are looking for specs-wise (length, weight, etc)?
There are a few TSF members in US (and Canada) who may be able to help you source more locally, ?
Stu Green of Green Baize Ltd (www.greenbaize.com) has a large range of cues, from his own range-GBL (very well rated on TSF) - to other makes, he is very knowledgeable and is great to have a chat with.
Craftsman Cues also hold a large range of their own and other cues.
Here on TSF - ADR147 - usually has a selection of cues.
As you have probably seen from the interweb that searching for snooker cues in the UK brings up many hits
all the best in your hunt.
      Up the TSF! :snooker:

        roaster:

I have a small stock of decent cues which I test out myself, however I have nothing at the 9.0mm range for ferrules. Mine are in the 9.4mm to 9.5mm range and are either 1pc or 3/4-butt. I can easily ship to Knoxville with no problems. Price range in US$ would be around $400 to $600.

As you can't use the PM function yet, you can email me at 'terrydavidson45(at)gmail(dot)com'.
