  • Parris 'Red Glue' cues

I just wondered what year (approx) did John Parris stop using his 'red glue' on his handmade cues?

    Any help much appreciated.

Not that long ago, I had a JPU made in 2004-2005 and it still had the red glue on
    77 in a match, 97 in a line up

Was there a reason to why he stopped using that type of glue?

Think it was around 2005 as said earlier.
I have an interesting cue made by Trevor White that is identical to the early Parris Elite cues right down to the red glue visible on the splice tips.
Not sure if Trevor made many of these cues but this is the only one that I've seen

I have an red glue Parris from 2008. Heard he changed glue because of problems with the thin veneers

The glueline is red / brown because of the chemicals in the product. These glues tend to cause the reddish staining you see on many Parris cues. I tried them for some time but stopped due to the ugly red bleeding that is typical of these phenol based systems. Great bond strength but hideous visible gluelines.

As posted above, this glue ruins the appearance of otherwise bright coloured thin veneers.
