  • Craftsman pro ash

Just had a session with a Craftsman Pro Ash cue and I have to say they are a much underrated cue! Out of 9 frames I had 4 breaks over 50 and 1 break of 79. Well balanced, beautiful shaft, are these selected shafts does any one know?

on their site they say about the Pro-Ash:
"THIS IS A NEW DESIGN AND A NEW CUE EDITION TO OUR STANDARD RANGE, MADE WITH THE BEST ASH POSSIBLE. ALL OUR ASH IS HAND SELECTED AND FROM 100 PIECES OF ASH ONLY 2 OR 3 WILL BE GOOD ENOUGH FOR A PRO ASH CUE. YOUR CUE WILL ALSO BE FITTED WITH A PRO - ASH NAME PLATE"

so seems to a selected shaft
    Up the TSF! :snooker:

Never owned a pro ash but have had a couple of craftsman cues and they are pretty nice players. Not the best quality grain or splicing but for the price I think if you are looking for a good playing cue they are as good as you can buy.

The few standard cues I've seen had quite good ash with nice chevrons and hit well. I get the impression that they wouldn't let you down with the Pro Ash.
        Tear up that manure-fed astroturf!

on the Parris site they something like "...only 2.5% of stock end up being good enough..." so very similar figures here

my current cue as made with what they now deem the pro ash cue, before dave started putting the pro ash badge on he had a tendency to use his finest ash for custom orders, have had a few cues made by craftsman and certainly all rate alongside the likes of parris, hunt etc but for some reason people think that certain badges make cues worth 4-5 times the price, the quality and workmanship of dave is as good as anybody
