Red glue model cue question.

I,ve just bought a cue and it turns out the splices have been put on using red glue.

Who else used red glue apart from John Parris? Or have i stumbled across a bargain?

I will post pictures up tonight when my son comes home cos im an old fart that doesnt know how to,lol.

Quite a few makers have used it, i had a WelshPool Trading cue that had it, found out later that it was actually made by MasterCraft
I take it this cue you have has no badge ???

Badge missing, looks like a mastercraft my mate has come to think of it.
Ah well,thought i may have gotten a JP for next to nowt lol.

Red glue tips are caused by the type of glue used , an epoxy resin I think . Kev Muncaster , NW Cues used it as did many other makers.

an epoxy? i've often wondered what glue it was but never seen an epoxy that colour. maybe i should get out more…

Thinking on , Mike , it might have been a phenol based resin , cant remember.Perhaps JP himself could enlighten us ???

I don't know what it was but I kind of remember that JP only used it because he couldn't get hold of the glue he had been using previously. It then kind of stuck as being a stand out mark to identify Parris cues and the age of them. My old JP is 15 years old and has it but don't know exactly how long he used this glue for.

My mates old JP cue that he has got rid of now was bought about 4 months earlier than I had mine and his didn't have it. So going on that basis I presume mine was one of the first to have it.
