  • Phoenix cues shaft selection

[B]I have two PHOENIX CUES One a Hand Spliced Master cue the other a Machine spliced they both have a beautiful interrupted vein I think you would call it ! on the underside of the cue that comes in contact with the bridge hand making a very smooth path over the v no unwanted chevron or grain bumps ! even on some expensive cues this is not the case (Ok ! they may be smooth to the touch)! is this because of careful shaft selection it must be quite wasteful ? what part of the timber is being used to achieve this or have I been lucky do other members rate this kind of shaft. What is the proper term for this type of grain and shaft.

lol............apart from the blank belly and whether hand spliced or machine spliced i've seen some really great shafts on the phoenix cues tight straight grain, nice arrows and tapers etc they take some beating in terms of value for money at the moment.

Yes as you said Blank Belly with dead straight side grain maybe it does not put balls in pockets but it sure is pleasing to the eye and feel. Tried a mates John Parris (Mega Bucks) with Chevrons and grain what can I say a bit (Higgly de Piggly) if you get my meaning my mince pies went into overdrive I know you should be looking at the object ball but it was a bit like that crack in the ceiling the wife is always on about "You know its there"
