  • Damaged cue

Hello lads hope you're all well.

I've currently been switching between two cues I can't separate them, they both have their own benefits. Though that was until I let a friend retip my cue, he dented it!!!

Let my mate retip it, to be fair he's good at it and he does everyone elses. He used one of those plastic clamps as he told me he'd run out of superglue, so he used cement. So it had to be clamped to keep it on tightly as it set.

Thing is, he put it on too tight and now my cue has a dent about a 2 inch long close to the furrule and a half inch wide. As I'm cueing I can feel it running across my hand, it's a PITA.

    Can this be repaired??

Dents in the shaft can be taken out by using steam though it depends on how bad it is. Better off giving it to a cuemaker to try and sort it.

I bashed my pool cue the other night on the side of the table, which left a large dent. I soaked a cotton bud with hot water and taped it to the dent left it over night and the dent has virtually disappeared.

Cheers lads, it's a pretty deepish dent. I'll try the cotton trick tonight

I've saw the bottle technique but thought it was a touch risky

Where abouts are you? If you are not confident , perhaps some one can point you in the right direction of a cue maker .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

Why are you cueing 2" from the ferrule?

Yes mate but been chokka. More or less caught up now though. Couple of splices couple of joints and a couple of ferrules and that's me clear. Oh, and a cue to find for a forum member who disappeared about three years ago lol!

Wow anyone I know? Saw Michael Leslie yesterday with his new Exquisite. Very nice. Hope it ends up being "the one" for Mike.

I've got a theory that the longer you spend trying to find "the one", the more chance that

you will find it, play with it for a while, miss searching for "the one" then carry on looking for "the one + "

just that wee bit better. . Just my theory mind. .

You could be right Billabong. This cue buying can be a bit of an addiction. Fortunately I haven't got "hooked" but I can understand those who have. Every time I see a nice cue posted up here I want to buy it and give it a try.
