length of the butt

I'm thinking about buying a new cue and was wondering if there is a significant difference in the stiffness of shafts between 3/4 jointed cues with joints at 12" as opposed to 16". I prefer the look of a shorter butt but I would rather have a solid and stiff feeling shaft.

you need flex in a shaft esp last 12 inch stay away from too much forward weighting, feels good in the hand but causes more cue ball deflection
